I am replying to Paul Gilman's message below that was sent to many people, and is referring to this Dana Beal message partially-archived here:

I think Nader, Kerry, Kucinich, etc. are all doing a great service in what they have said concerning cannabis and the drug war in its many forms. Of course, I wish they ALL would say it LOUDER, because as I said in a previous email, what counts in the end is educating the public and each other about these issues.
Without public opinion little else matters concerning the official laws, and tolerance, the real law.
I suggest people read what what that tough ornery bastard, Al Giordano of NarcoNews is saying about John Kerry's views on the drug war, the environment, the wars, etc.. I sure learned a lot I didn't know. Al Giordano has been reporting on John Kerry for many years.

The elections are a great opportunity for education, because the corporate media is forced to cover what the candidates are saying somewhat. So Nader should definitely NOT drop out until close to election time.
Near then Nader and the Democrats should work out A LOUD PUBLIC DEAL for him to drop out in return for the Democrats promising to work HARD for INSTANT RUNOFF VOTING.
Discuss among yourselves. :)

As a Green who is in Cures Not Wars, I find Dana's harping on
Nader's
ignorance on the Ibogain issue a bit problematic. First of all, Nader's
running mate Wynnona Laduke is a big pro-hemp activists. In all of her
speechs Laduke prominently and constantly promotes hemp, especially as a
cash crop for Native-Americans. Nader is also against the war on drugs
although it is not one of HIS major issues. Kucinich actually has taken
Nader's position on this issue, and not the other way around. Currently
I am trying to get Greens from all over the USA to participate in the
May Day Is Jay Day events. Dana's Nader bashing probably will not have
much of an effect on that one way or another, but it does make me feel
uncomfortable. Greens have been in the for front of the anti-drug war
campaign for a long time now, way longer than John Kerry. John Kerry
is also pro-Patriot act, and has only taken a cold-shoulder-to-the-war
position because of the peace movement and Kucinich. Kucinich positions
are more of a co-opting of the Green's positions and not the other way
around.
To steer the youth into Skull & Bones, pro-Patriot Act, ruling class
asshole like John Kerry just because his wife Terressa HeinzKetchup
Kerry took a couple of Ibogain fliers, which is what Dana is doing,
is setting the youth up for a fall. It is the youth who will get drafted
and sent to Iraq not Dana. While it is proper to squeeze Kerry for some
concessions if he wants our support, and Kerry is for treatment over
incarceration as this blind cc purports, that was the Greens position
way before it was Kerry's position. Kerry is trying to pander for votes,
electorial politics is the Green's strategy, the Green's and Nader are
partly responsible for weather-vane Kerry's stances. Dana also leaves
out one important question: IS KERRY FOR THE LEGALIZATION OF MARIJUANA?
Another question: what kinds of drug treatments will Establishment Kerry
promote?
Maybe instead of bashing Nader, Dana should thank Nader for past services,
and they are immense, and carry on the line that at this time a Nader
candidacy does not help the movement. I lean towards that opinion myself.
the Green's should let the presidential race take it's course and gear up
for the 2008 election when we can have a clearer assessment of the
situation.
Please stop the Nader bashing. It does no good to allineate allies.
