About the article linked above...
The following 2 quotes (among many) from Al Giordano show me how precarious a life Al has been leading. Al is WAY out on a limb, and has been for awhile it seems to me. Like Al I have traveled outside my home country (the USA) for years at a time in the past, and I know how precarious it can get both physically and at the soul level. Thanks for all your work, Al. I think you need to take a break. :)

"... we realized that we had both been in Nicaragua in the 1980s. In fact, Carlos named one of his daughters for a Sandinista Comandanta. During their pre-revolutionary times in exile, Nicaraguan leaders, including Daniel Ortega, had hid out in Juchitán, with Carlos’ help. He had organized truckloads of food and aid from Juchitán to Nicaragua during that era."

Hopefully, Al will allow the NarcoNews archives to remain online. Without changing any article URLs. Too many people have the individual articles bookmarked.
It doesn't cost much to keep a website such as NarcoNews online. Even one with millions of hits a month. The actual bandwidth cost for the web hosting is relatively small. Once the articles are online there is no need for further webmaster work. Or any human intervention. The monthly bandwidth fee is what then counts.
Maybe people can donate directly to the web host. The web host would soon be paid years in advance. Passing the hat for a month would pay the bandwidth costs for years. Problem solved. The info stays available and the site remains ready if Al ever decides to work on the MarcoNews.com site again.
I have had a drug-war website up for years. It costs me nothing. It is mirrored on 3 free web hosts. Anybody can do this. I even wrote how-to instructions here:
http://corporatism.tripod.com/webpages.htm and
http://members.fortunecity.com/multi19/webpages.htm and
http://www.angelfire.com/rnb/y/webpages.htm
The 3 mirror sites together average 15,000 hits per month total. From 10,000 unique visitors per month. That is 120,000 unique visitors per year.
If 100 people create their own websites, then that could be 1 million unique visitors per month. Or 12 million a year. Lots of people have been creating drug-war-related websites.
BY the way I have had a Google search box on nearly all my site pages for a long time now. One of the sites the search box can search is NarcoNews.com (among several drug reform sites). Feel free to place the box on the NarcoNews site or anywhere. Adapt the search form in any way.
