Subject: RE: [UncleSamSucks] Crackdown on Christianist schools. Onward Christian Soldiers. Drug war.
Lest we get carried away with our anti-Christian rhetoric, let us identify the real problem here. It is not Christianity, per se, it is religious zealotry, and/or complacency
I am a Christian, have been for years, and plan on staying that way. That being said, you should understand that I, and many others, want to end the War On Some Drugs. The answer is not in religion forcing government's hand in a certain direction (remember how well that worked in the Middle Ages?), but in reminding religion of it's job- to be compassionate and offering a hand up to those who wish it, not pushing for more draconian laws and tactics.
I submit that those who do want those things have not read with any comprehension, any of the Gospels. Maybe I'll write a bit entitled, "The Drug War, what would Jesus do?" Hint, it would not mention imprisonment for those who enjoy using these substances.
"Christians" these days have become lazy and complacent, as well, thus leading them to the conclusion that the government, and submission to it, is the Way, this means that we all get more time at ice cream socials and rummage sales- the backbone of Godliness, as you know. Support of thugs and whores is not what following Christ's teaching was about, though leading them from such, is.
Any decent church keeps it's doors open to those in need. Those that are closed due to having gone on Crusades might want to ponder what their own "handbook" says regarding such behavior.

I am a retired veteran of the army, and my own son is among you, a paratrooper like I was. The changes that are happening to every one of you--some more extreme than others--are changes I know very well. So I'm going to say some things to you straight up in the language to which you are accustomed.
In 1970, I was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade, then based in northern Binh Dinh Province in what was then the Republic of Vietnam. When I went there, I had my head full of
