Singapore - A convicted drug trafficker who stored 2.7 kilogrammes of cannabis or marijuana in a Singapore flat was hanged in Changi Prison, news reports said on Tuesday.

Raman Selvam Renganathan, 39, was sentenced to death last September 1 after an eight-day trial, according to The Straits Times.

Narcotics officers had arrested him at his home.

Officers had also nabbed another man, Dhanabalan A. Gopalkrishnan, 33, nearby. They found more drugs and items including scales, masking tape and a chopping board in another apartment.

Dhanabalan fingered Raman Selvam as the mastermind. He was sentenced to a 20-year jail term and 24 strokes of the cane.

Singapore has some of the strictest drug penalties in the world. - Sapa-DPA

Thailand drug warriors murder thousands.

There is a reason that this section follows the JFK section. Because several books allege that the JFK assassination was helped by opium crime syndicates in Southeast Asia who were mad at JFK for his help in the assassination of their friend, the ruthless U.S.-installed leader of Vietnam, Diem, a few weeks before JFK's assassination November 22, 1963. The Golden Triangle was where most opium came from back then. The current leaders of Thailand have the same ruthlessness as their predecessors in that region. The USA, CIA, DEA, FBI, etc. have played all sides of the opium and heroin trade. CIA drugs and DEA drug war. Sometimes working together at the highest levels as in Iran Contra Cocaine. The first industrial-scale, U.S.-controlled, death squads, the Phoenix Program, occurred in Southeast Asia.

Article quote: "Among those either killed, or missing and presumed dead, were campaigners against logging, dams and wastewater projects." Another article quote: "She reminded those audiences, she said, that more than 2,000 people suspected of breaking drug laws were killed during a three-month 'war on drugs' by the Thaksin government last year [2003], a move that prompted the State Department to criticize Thailand's 'worsened' human rights record."
