Instant Runoff Voting (IRV)

HIGHLIGHTS: John Anderson's commentary on IRV and the 2004 presidential election. At the recent Take Back America Conference, a mock election was held using IRV to determining John Kerry's likely VP running mate.  A mock election for VP was also held at the Hip Hop Convention in Newark, along with an IRV vote for favorite hip hop artists.  San Francisco will use IRV in its November 2004 city elections, and Berkeley voters overwhelmingly approved it.. Nearly two dozen states considered IRV legislation in 2003-2004, and an Illinois poll showed majority support for using IRV in presidential elections. Utah Republican party officials and nominees are chosen using IRV.
