Wow...I'm very pleased to have the feedback so far. Thanks everyone..
I would love to be involved in an active registry training; unfortunately, I
have not found anyone that offers that in the State of Alaska, or even
Washington State so far. I live about 2 hours from either place by plane. Even
within Alaska, you have to be a certified cancer registrar to practice...from
what I have been told recently. Any suggestions on what organizations out there
may offer such? I have even Googled "Teaching Hospitals, Cancer
Registry"...etc.
I am getting ready to check out the new requirements also for the CRT exam as
I was encouraged by the last e-mail.

The AHIMA courses run about $500 for each module - they aren't cheap, but they
are well organized. Das - will you be able to spend any time in an active

Subject: Just starting in the bookwork.

Good evening from Sitka, Alaska, friends. Thank you for allowing me to
join the group. Just a glance at some of the posts tells me I am in
for a mind-challenging career. That's just what I need.

As I indicated in my request e-mail, I am enrolled in the Cancer
Registry Program through AHIMA online and can honestly say the format
has made the best possible way to learn. I work full-time as a medical
transcriptionist in an acute-care facility, so working out
my "learning" hours each day is great. I look forward to moving
through each module.

I would just like to say that if there is any feedback group members
may have for me..please share!
