Whether your facility is COC approved or not you may want to check out the
COC standards book to give you some ideas on how to plead your case. The
standards do a very good job of integrating the role of the Registry into the
rest of the organization and show how important it is to be part of the oncology
operations vs HIM. I have always found that if you prepare in advance, have
a reasonable plan in place and back it up with facts and then, always show
how it will benefit the physicians and administration, usually works.
