I encourage you to really plead your case. I am very fortunate to be under
Medical Staff Services for almost 10 years. Before that I was under an oncology
nurse that ran a support foundation for cancer patients. We are a small
community based hospital also. I know what it's like to be in the Medical
Record department from many years ago. You get pulled off your job to help in
the department and, as you know, you can't afford to have that happen. Good
luck. Millie Berdan, CTR

Subject: [Cancer Registrar Group] what department are you in?
What department has responsibility for the cancer registry in your
facility? I am currently under the direction of the radiation
oncology
department in our hospital (small, community-based), and they are
considering switching the registry to the HIM department. I would
report to the manager and director of medical records instead of the
oncology nurse manager as I do now.
I am preparing to plead my case to remain in the oncology department,
and would appreciate any input. Thanks!
