I'd like to find what the productivity standards are for abstracting in
other hospitals besides my own. I am referring to if you abstract all
day. Our administration is enforcing a new standard of 7.5 a day. We
work from 8:30-5:00 with a 1/2 hour lunch and two 15 minute breaks. So
that is a total of 7.5 hours a day. Also I would like to know if anyone
has any literature or information on best registry practices regarding
cancer patient follow up and the importance of data collected such as date
of first recurrence and with or without disease. That also is under
debate where I work and date of recurrence and disease status will no
longer be documented. I have a meeting coming up in the next several
weeks with upper management and would like to be able to have a reliable
data source to help defend my position regarding the importance of data
collected in our departments.
Thanks,
Tracy

Subject: [Cancer Registrar Group] Help get the group active
Hi,
I think it is time we start using our group website more. In time
past I had posted problem cases for you to review and give your
opinion on. I have decided to do something on this order again to
help get activity going again on the group site.
I will be sending out case scenarios or other questions and asking
you to give your opinion on how it should be coded, staged, etc. I
hope that you will all join in. And, if you have a particular
problem case or some rule, etc, that bothers you and you need some
clarification on how to proceed, please email me and I will be glad
to use it in our regular "exercise".
So, when you see the work "EXERCISE" in the subject line, take a
look and see what you think. Then, post to the group website your
answer and (if applicable) where you found the documentation to back
up why you chose that answer.
And, please feel free to send me comments on whether you think this
is a waste of time or of help to you. My email is cdms@....
