Re: [Cancer Registrar Group] Leiomyosarcoma of Breast

Hey Lori, Looks like you got two different answers to your question -
I posted mine on the ncra website-I felt that the staging manual
inferred that you use breast - if you look on page 194 - breast is
listed as a site group - and its anatomic site effects
staging/outcomes,etc... anybody else with an opinion?...

If you have a leiomyosarcoma of the breast, do you code it to breast or soft tissue of the trunk and where do I find the rule on this? Thanks, Lori...

Leiomyosarcoma falls under the chapter on soft tissue so therefore you would code this to soft tissue and not to the breast. Check the cancer staging manual...

I would code this site to the breast if I were doing it. The same rule applies if you were coding a lymphoma of the stomach. You would code it to the stomach...

Hi Lori . . . Here's my two cents. Don't use the staging guide to code the primary site, tempting though it is. Those eligible histology lists at the start...
