FLU? * Maybe there is another common denominator? Whether or not a particular virus is found, doesn't mean it is the cause of all that ails you. There is another cause of flu symptoms that the CDC should list on their website & consider in all cases of flu symptoms. See if there is blood in urine, and whether or not the FATIGUE is autoimmune action on the red blood cells. Remember 1918 was at the end of WWI. I suspect the chemical in explosions blows around and gets into the eyes of people. And that this goes back to the mid 1300s. I suspect 2-butoxyethanol may be there and in gun cleaners, and home cleaning products, too.

Sounds like you have the anemia that's hard to find.  The kind that is referenced in 'gulf war syndrome' or Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome.  Part of the definition is that doctors do not know what the fatigue is.
 
Besides rapid heart beat and shortness of breath do you also have 'the chills?'
Do you have an abnormal body temp?  high or low?
Abnormal blood sugar?  (That IS one thing easy for doctors to find)

I am concerned for a little boy age 2 who is very sensitive to this ... At his young age he can be maxed out on this chemical ... and when a runny nose starts his mom should immediately ask .... what have I been cleaning with ...?   Where have I taken this little one?  ... who has come over?

Give the doctors a clue and ask them to ask the lab tech to LOOK at the RED Blood cells and tell them everything about them that they can.
 
I would get doctor's orders NOT to run.  One vet had serious fatigue issues and was trying out for another civilian job in the Sherrif's office of which part of it was strenuous excercise.  He had shortness of breath and ended being taken to the ER.  He died.  I suspect he was dealing with autoimmune hemolytic anemia and that he expended all his available oxygen during exercise, and the oxygen could not be replenished quickly enough ... and he died.  This was Jan 18, 2009 in El Paso, TX  Cesar Arreola became dizzy, light headed with shortness of breath. He was 37 when he died.

Dear Senator Lisa Murkowski,

Thank you for sharing my concerns with the Dept of Defense regarding the harm of Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether or 2-butoxyethanol ... BUTYL for short.  Although the gulf war vets have many exposures, the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup workers (BIOREMEDIATION workers who sprayed Inipol EAP 22) have this as their primary exposure and there were 1000 young men.  What happened to them (1989) has vital significance for medicine today.

And to today's military and to civilians as well.  But the Public does not know what happened to them.  They can make no comparisons.  *

Many are dead already, just as many gulf war vets are dead. And many others affected, too! (Non exclusive harm)

Too much exposure looks like the flu.  A virus should not be suspect for most of the 'flu symptoms.'  EGBE causes one's body's immune system to rapidly attack them. The proof that this chemical is the culprit is the anemia of CFIDS that it causes ... but which doctors do not generally find. (Too many things going on at the same time prevents discovery).  Butyl exposure causes infinite variations.  The numbers doctors look at can go high (with acute exposure or early on) to low (later years).

Both Senators Kennedy and Byrd would be helped if their doctors understood THIS anemia.  It is more life threatening than any other autoimmune issue or cancer that subsequently shows up.  Yes, it would be the FATIGUE that caused Senator Kennedy's recent seizure (lack of oxygen) and doctors should look at the red blood cells.  They are not the right type of red blood cells, as would be expected per 'the numbers'  Gulf war vet, Cesar Arreola, became dizzy with shortness of breath after strenuous exercise.  Dies 1/18/09 at age 37.  I suspect he used up the oxygen that his red blood cells had to offer, and then died from the lack of oxygen (THE FATIGUE, THE ANEMIA) ... when the red blood cells could not easily replace it.

I also suspect this as the most probable cause of Jett Travolta's death:  advance anemia after near death from Kawasaki syndrome when he was 2 years old (exposure was this chemical in carpet cleaning) ... would lead to a very advance anemia years later. *    *

The autoimmune metabolic causing chemical should also be suspect for the cause of Autism.  I was noticing in UK research that there is an autoimmune metabolic aspect to Autism & nervous system issues would be a part of it.  The UK has better research on this chemical causing a multitude of cancers, as well *  An EVOS worker, Richard Nagel, has looked into the French Inipol and said there was research on what happened to those workers and that cancers were a stand out harm.  Even our President has been touched by the type of cancers this chemical would cause, with very possible exposures to his mom & his grandparents  *

There is research that shows that there is a preponderance of Autism among gulf war vets.  And since I suspect EGBE for the primary harm of these vets .... so also do I suspect it for Autism in general * and also for the epidemic of cancers and autoimmune metabolic issues such as Syndrome X and diabetes (only a side effect that is easy to find).

We need to help today's Vets as they are at risk even more than those of other war eras.  We need to be looking for what is alike for every war era from WWI, WWII, Vietnam War *, Korean War, Panama & Somalia conflicts, Gulf War I, Iraqi war, and that in Afghanistan.  Any and all autoimmune issues for them and for their children (Serious birth defects from this teratogen chemical).  My condolences go out to all who have had too much exposure to this chemical ... which also I suspect * for SSG James Alford of Karnack, TX who died last month of 'mad cow disease' ... actually the most serious autoimmune issue that trumps even ALS, Parkinson's, MS.  www.valdezlink.com/pages/autoimmune.htm  There are so many autoimmune issues that some of them don't even have names yet  *

In advance anemia you start to see very high white blood cell counts (not likely an infection for these - an anemia sign) and what do white blood cells do in a system that has become autoimmune?  Attack even our bones (Degenerative Disc Disease is often an autoimmune issue.) *  I see Senator Kennedy walking with a cane ... also our Dick Cheney, Former Justice Rehnquist, etc

I hope doctors will consider looking at the same medical info in a new light.  I can't think of anything worse than letting this chemical continue to harm us ... and for us to give more chemical exposures (often even medications) hoping for help.  I suppose our health care costs could bankrupt us all by themselves.  Continuing on the road of 'helps' we have been on would be a big mistake.  A new direction will definitely be in order.

Since EPA lifted all restrictions on this chemical at the lobbying of chemical companies in 2003, I suspect EGBE should be suspect for contributing to the rapid acceleration of global warming and the melting of the polar ice caps. *

I thank you for your interest and I hope that your influence, and what Alaska can contribute to our Nation's health information will help this chemical from continuing to harm our soldiers and our babies & our moms and dads and the hardworking people who are most at risk (Those who clean, who paint, who WORK)  Worst exposure is vapors in your eyes.  Everyone also needs to understand 'secondhand solvent exposure'

Beyond poisoning of our Troops and not knowing by what ... the next most troubling issue  is the damage to the children.  The birth defects *, the inability to have a full term baby (or any baby at all) ... the loss of hearing, the loss of eyesight, loss of sense of taste and smell, the loss of touch' ... even short term memory loss.  Study for class & know what you need to know the night before, and forget 80% by the next day.  There are widespread implications for Alzheimer's for those who will need special education.  The burden upon our families ... upon our schools ... upon our healthcare system ... and upon our Military ... should not be.  Even our pets are at risk  *

We need new laws of disclosure.  As it is now, companies do not have to disclose to housewives what is in the cleaning products they use.  We should consider banning this chemical and if not learn to avoid it!  *

The chemical exposure that would cause Kawasaki Syndrome (BUTYL or 2-butoxyethanol) is also a cause of serious anemia. I suspect this advanced autoimmune hemolytic anemia was the more probable cause of death. It is not generally found by doctors, but it can be.

Why horrible headaches when there is no brain tumor?

Question ... what would be causing the horrible headaches ... even continuing until after the brain tumor was removed and non recurring for 5 years (it was a pituitary tumor). posted by shais  brain tumor

I don't expect an answer, as my views would not be 'run of the mill' and will likely be discarded.

I have noticed that there is a very common chemical exposure that causes flu symptoms when people get exposed to it. Research says BUTYL (or most common form, 2-butoxyethanol) causes serious harm to blood and blood forming organs, damages kidneys and liver, and causes leukemia, brain tumors, tumors and cancers about anywhere.

It is easy to be exposed as it is a pesticide too strong even in home cleaning products; it is in paint; it is in dry cleaning and plastics manufacturing; AND you can be exposed 'second hand' if you are too near someone who is overexposed and breathing the chemical in their respiration to get into your eyes.

I suspect if headaches that are pretty horrible do not subside (has nothing to do with brain tumor the majority of the time) ... then there is a serious likelihood of continued exposure, And add on symptoms like that of Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, CFS, FM, ME. (Exact variation of no concern). This chemical causes the body to go autoimmune *, and the numbers on blood work can go above or below normal and be what this chemical can do.

With real severe exposure other cancers, especially pancreatic cancer show up, which is what happened for my friend. And happened in 2008 for Ron Davis, MD, for Randy Pausch, PhD, who have died this year (more probably from the anemia than from the cancer per se), and now Patrick Swayze is seriously ill

Medical science should also list exposure to 2-butoxyethanol for causing flu symptoms ... should realize that for this group of people a high white blood cell count is another anemia sign, not an infection nor lymphoma necessarily; that what is often blamed on one of the side effects (elevated blood sugar or diabetes) is simply that ... a side effect of exposure to 2-butoxyethanol exposure either now or in the family background. This chemical should also be looked into for cause of many birth defects (it is a teratogen chemical). It affects so many parts of the body, (Where it shows up first is irrelevant) not metastasis!   Michael Landon died at the age of 54 in 1991 of pancreatic and liver cancers  

Michael Landon appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" (1991) to talk about his battle with cancer and many people in the audience were affected by the courage and energy he showed. Unfortunately he was already terminally ill by that time. He wanted to know

"Why pancreatic cancer?" 

(Another source said he also had liver cancer)  ... AND

The familial registries for pancreatic cancer started up in the early 1990s? ... There are 11 known in the USA & internationally there is one in Canada (Jewish), in Japan, in Germany, in Great Britain ...

& in Spain (ah ha... a WWI nation) ever hear about the 'Spanish Flu of 1918?'

The 1918 Pandemic flu was in the news Oct 5, 2005 because Pres Bush mentioned having read Barry's book on the topic; so Barry is being interviewed on TV shows, etc.

Barry said that in that year the flu killed millions and that people turned blue from lack of oxygen very quickly; they were bleeding out of their eyes, mouth, ears, nose.

They were so black/blue that you couldn't tell what their race was.  Maybe that is an autoimmune reaction that kills off all the red blood cells ... not just rapidly starts destroying them.

I think brain tumors and other cancers are a 'side effect' of the harmful component in Inipol EAP 22 ... and same chemical in Simple Green ... many cleaning products

Besides anemia being 'hard to find'  (AIHA or IMHA)
Liver damage can cause rapid weight loss
but it isn't found easily
lower than 98.6 temp?  Or has there been a recent FLU?  Then a FEVER - elevated body temperature  *

There is another cause of seizures that can be from lack of oxygen
 
With a lot of exposure to this chemical,
 

C6H14O2/CH3(CH2)2CH2OCH2CH2OH 

 
it causes chronic fatigue syndrome issues of which fatigue, headaches, depression and tumors various places, especially brain tumors are a side effect.  I also suspect what is often blamed on 'heart attack' and lung cancers and liver cancer and kidney cancer and Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma, leukemia, etc
 
For this group they often recall a serious flu,
and the fatigue (idiopathic anemia) is not found
 
Please look at this info,
including some suggestions for help
 
FIRST one being to AVOID this chemical
 
What kind of work have you done?
 
This group is dealing with autoimmune issues almost entirely,
ask the doctors what can be done to stop one's system from being autoimmune.
 
 
I have heard that Rituxan has helped both the fatigue and cancers that 'go with' for this population.
