Every now and then, when you need it most, there is a message for you.  This is an easy one to find, but we should all remember that our lives are how we see them, not how we're seen by others.

Love,

Marla

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming --- Wow! What a ride!!!!!

May you soar with eagles

Run with the wolves

Walk with the buffalo

And always be my friend

Attitude

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.

Well,' she said, 'I think I'll braid my hair today?'

So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.

'H-M-M,' she said, 'I think I'll part my hair down the middle today?'

So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.

'Well,' she said, 'today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail.'

So she did and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.

'YEA!' she exclaimed, 'I don't have to fix my hair today!'

Attitude is everything.  Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.  Live simply, Love generously,  Care deeply, Speak kindly.......

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.  It's about learning to dance in the rain.

Thank you, Marla, for the note. Since my bald days I have learned to be thankful for my hair and everything else in my life. I remind my family and students often that there is more to life than what is on th outside - it's on the inside. In my purse is a picture of me bald. It is a daily reminder of how far I have come and how much God loves me.

So, here's to being bald, to have scars, and radiated bodies. Here's to getting up every day, to having good days and having bad days. But most important, here's to being a survivor. We can survive anything!

Thanks, Marsha....it's been a long time since my cancer battle and that seems trivial after what last year brought....but it is all survivable as long as don't take no for an answer.  I figure I'm on my third life now, and it is sometimes more difficult to be a survivor, when I look back at this 16-month battle,  but I know if there's a fourth battle, I'll be up for it.  It's all a state of mind.  So hang in there and know that whatever comes, you can survive it.
