Thanks for the compliment. Last year I had trouble finishing races longer than
5K and I was afraid to run any 10Ks. Before Cancer (BC) I trained 5 days a week
between 5 and 10 miles each day. For the first 3 or 4 miles I struggled and felt
the pain. After that I would always get a runner's high (endorphins in the
brain) and I felt like I could keep running forever.
After Diagnosis (AD) my treatment blocked some hormones and the runner's high
never happened. Today I struggled for about 3 1/2 miles. For the first time AD
the endorphins kicked in and I ran faster, my heart beat dropped, my breathing
stabilized, and I felt like could run forever. It was a tough run with lots of
hills and I arrived home after 5 miles feeling great! I think I'm ready for my
first race of the year in two weeks and it will be a 10K (6.2m).
Shalom,
Chuck
