Re: [cancer_survivors_gathering_place] ENJOY LIFE

Good luck with your surgery on Friday.  I am having surgery on my ulnar nerve on the 9th of March.  It has been compressed/pinched for about 8 months but since on my left-hand and I am right-handed I let it go much longer than I should have.  At this point the surgery will talk fix the problem (numbness in my pinkie finger and one-half of my ring finger) it will just stop me from having claw fingers.

Not sure if you remember but last year I had abdominal pain (very intense) every test in the book including a PET Scan that was clear, and they could never figure out what it was.  Thought I might have IBS symptoms but not IBS.  When I told the hand specialist about this, right away he printed off a paper and showed me a diagram for me to take to my doctor.  He believes it is a spigelian hernia, which I have never heard of.  He said everything I told him, led him to believe that this was my problem.  I guess this was all meant to happen.  I believe that this is going to be a good positive year.  It is one that I believe we all need and DESERVE to have!  Best Wishes!  Laurie

Thanks Laurie. . . for sharing this wonderful piece.  I'm heading to see an eye surgeon this Friday to plan the upcoming surgery to cure my glaucoma.  Word has it that there is a cure.  So there is HOPE out there. . . just to be patient. . . stand strong, practice patience. . .reach out to others. . it works.  THANKS for sharing.   We need one another. . . and thanks for reaching out.  It does make a difference.  Evie in NJ

? We all need to read this one over and over until it becomes part of who we are!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Try everything twice. On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph:

Tried everything twice...loved it both times!

2. Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down. (keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches)

3. Keep learning: Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle.
'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh unt il you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh,
spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6.. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.

LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love: Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.

Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
I love you, my special friend.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance.

And if you don't send this to at least 4 people - who cares?

But do share this with someone.

Remember! Lost time can never be found.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
