Greetings, all, from north central Texas! We're settled in here at
Lake Mineral Wells State Park, about 40 miles northwest of Ft.
Worth, for the winter. We're volunteering again...you know us! Dan
will be writing and giving interpretive programs to our visitors,
and I will be first learning and then writing a training manual for
the computerized reservation system that they use here. This
program is used by national and state parks throughout the country,
so I'm very excited to be involved in it. Yet another skill to add
to our volunteer resumes.
This spring, when we leave here, we hope to visit the four remaining
states that we have not been to in this great country of ours on our
way to our next assignment in Seward, Alaska! We also promised the
family that we will be home for Christmas 2006 so we will make a
stop in San Diego, probably sometime in November through the
holidays. We did not promise them we would stay. So the adventure
continues.
Many of you know that we were involved in a pretty serious car
accident in Houston last month when we came off our cruise. We are
both doing well, fortunate that our injuries were minor, though
lingering. We're finally beginning to feel better, though not
100%. We don't know when our beautiful new car will be repaired.
The Honda dealer in Houston that is doing the repairs let us know
last week that there is additional damage past their first estimate,
so we're just waiting. It's been three weeks now and may be another
three or four til all the parts are in and the paint dried. We can
only hope the young man who was taken to the hospital has recovered
and the young lady who was driving is okay and that her pregnancy
continues without problem.
A bit of news for those of you who may not be aware of it: Our
friend Evelyn Katerba is celebrating a birthday this New Year's
Eve. I'm sure she'd welcome your birthday wishes.
Lastly, I hope that 2006 brings you all a year of health, happiness
and that your dreams are fulfilled.
