Two weeks ago I ran a 5 mile race in the pelting rain. There were 500
people entered in the race, but only 76 showed up. Prizes went to the
top 3 finishers and the top 3 in each age group. I finished just
behind a woman my age. She finished 3rd of 3 in her age group.
Unfortunately for me there were 10 men in my age group and I finished
10th - no prize. Still it was my best race so far this year and I feel
pretty good about where I placed. Only the really serious runners
bothered to show up while most everyone simply stayed in bed. A half
mile causeway across a reservoir that we ran on is now under 20 feet
of water. I feel sort of like we ran across the Red Sea that was
parted for us.
Tomorrow I expect to run another 5 mile race in the snow. I am quite
nervous and Jackie would prefer I stay home.
Shalom,
Chuck
