Hi all,
You may remember my situation from previous posts. If there would be those
who have come on recently I would be glad to send my history on request.
I am not writing to persuade any of anything but there may have been some
lessons learned and the decisions are yours.
The only thing that has somewhat bothered me are the things such as Don's
warning the last time I posted to the effect that the guys using Flax Oil
should be aware of the statements of a very outstanding doctor to the effect
that five studies had shown that the use of Flaxseed Oil had not been of
value as had another one from Sweden.
The problem I find with this is that unless those studies were of Flax oil
Omega 3 being used in conjunction with cottage cheese or other sources of
sulfur based proteins as they are used by DR. Budwig those studies are of
absolutely no relevance whatever.
I have not followed DR. Budwig's protocol nearly as strictly as she uses it
but it has been quite effective anyway and recent additions may have been a
learning experience as well.
Ten years ago at this time I was diagnosed with stage 4 PCa with a PSA of
75. I did not have a Gleason score but the Urologist told me at the time
that mine was not the most aggressive but was not slow growing. I learned
later that my urologist had not expected me to be alive in six months.
I have just received word that all tests, including a just completed
Prostascint show everything completely normal. If I were to go into a
strange doctor for a physical today I would not be diagnosed with cancer.
I am just starting my 80th year on this Earth.
Last April my PSA was coming down well and then I began a very stressful
summer. A PSA taken Aug 21 had spiked to 40. AT that time I was a little
concerned and decided to take two Lupron shots and begin the use of Agaricus
Blazei Murill mushroom extract along with the continued use of Flaxseed Oil
and Cottage cheese.
I was working with an Oncologist who did not have Lupron on hand and by the
time it was available a month had gone by. Meanwhile, the causes of the
stress were over and I was a lot more relaxed.
I decided to get another PSA at the time I took the shot. It was 36. If
the test was not an aberration it was already coming down on Flax Oil alone.
It was pointed out that this is within the margin of error of the tests but
at least it was not going up. I made a big error in not insisting on a
testosterone check but for some reason the doctors I have seen seem
reluctant to prescribe it.
30 days later the PSA was 7.9 and 30 days later it was 1.7. The next will
be in about 3 weeks.
Now the "why". I do not know and there is no way to prove it. There are
indications.
Four years and seven months of Lupron and Eulexin which I ended in October
of 1995 have left me with little Testosterone production from the Testes. I
know that by how I feel. I made no effort to block the testosterone from
the Adrenal gland this time.
I have learned recently that it is dangerous to take Lupron without 7 days
on Casodex first because of a spike that could be life threatening. There
was no spike at all. The PSA crashed.
I have been told often that stress can cause an increase in the PSA,
sometimes up to 100%. Stress also causes a suppression of the immune
system.
I have also been told that the immune system does not recognize cancer cells
nor destroy them. We all have cell mutations every day and the fact that
younger people do not often develop cancer seems to me to refute that.
I recently learned that as we get older the white cells, including Killer T
Cells are still there, but they tend to "go to sleep". There are
substances, such as Beta Glucan, that tends to "wake them up" and may make
them again strong enough to recognize and kill cancer cells.
A message from Alex on PHML stated that the effect would only last five
days. I learned why that is. Beta Glucan is a heavy user of vitamin C and
when the vitamin C is exhausted the Beta Glucan cannot be effective until
the vitamin C is rebuilt. It may take 6000 to 8000 mgs a day to keep it
effective.
The Agaricus is a heavy supplier of Beta Glucan. There are other sources as
well. One nutritional Dr. told me that the combination of Flaxseed oil and
Beta Glucan was excellent for PCa.
I am wondering if that is not the combination that has brought things to
normal.
Now I will continue with Flax Oil alone and see whether it keeps the PSA in
bounds. If there is any rise I will add more Beta Glucan and vitamin C.
I have never felt a bit of discomfort from PCa and expect to live a normal
live span. Actually, I am about there now. Anything else is gravy.
