I am not angry, but I was offended by your post regarding a study of melanoma
sufferers. I do not have puffy or black eyes, highdomed fingernails, or
gout-like conditions. Yet, I am a survivor of melanoma.
What I do have are some inherited predispositions towards the disease, such
as fair skin, blonde hair and blue eyes. I did get many severe sun burns in
my younger years.
What I inherited, I cannot control. The time spent in the sun 30 years ago,
I cannot take back.
What I can do is take care of myself the best I know how and seek information
on a continual basis. That is why I am on this list. I read the book
"cancer solution" 6 yrs. ago, and have been using the flax seed since then.
I am always reading books about nutrition and supplements. I take extra
antioxidants, and vitamins everyday. I also try to watch what I eat. I
have not gotten a sunburn since I was diagnosed with melanoma.
So, I am quite proactive in the prevention of this disease. It has been 6
years since my first occurance, and I continue to be free of disease. But I
have to be constantly vigilant and concerned about any changes in my skin.
I joined this group for information and support. I believe you have a lot of
knowledge, Michele, and am thankful when you share it in a productive fashion.
