Now for one of those coincidence's
I have just got back from travelling from Leatherhead near London - all the way down to an art college with my daughter - Falmouth
their introduction was at the Maritime Museum
in the quay next-door was the tri-maran sailed around the world by Ellen MacArthur - To me the meaning of her success is more that a world record, an incredible feat of endurance, a success against huge odds, use of science to its limit, determination beyond the scope of most normal people - it was so simple:
with determination, changing tack according to the conditions, perseverance, etc. etc - almost impossible things can happen - probabilities do not count
Now on December 19th 2003, my oncologist gave me messages that left no probability of succeeds - or at least that is how I remember it - now - today - 14 months on - I too have beaten predictions - and today's 'coincidence' means far more to me
Ellen did something that is damn near impossible for any human - a first time
her achievement is a signal to all of us with cancer - what appears impossible - can be done - thanks Ellen

by golly she has set up a trust to give kids with cancer a chance to go sailing - not just a good sport.....
