I've participated in this application as engineer electric 10 years
ago, together with my father - seniour surgeon-oncologist in
oncological clinics. We used relatively primitive but efective enough
equipment for heat producing and control. We used very high
temperature (under anesthesia, sure), till 60-75C(!) for deep
heating. It coused total necrosis of tumor tissue, and also coused
serious burnig surrounded tissues. But surrounded burned surface
heeled, while tumor destructed.
The main problem of application was none homogenous temperature
distribution. It strongly depended on tissue structure, electrodes
configuration and many other factors.
So far, I never heared about applications with such themperatural
range, besides electrocoagulation. Anyone encountered somethig
similar?
