Hi,
I am writing about my 12 year old Assistance Dog, Silver, who has been recently diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in the distal end of her tibia (the same bone on which she had orthopedic surgery with an internal metal fixator last year).
We are not amputating the leg (this is Silver's good leg as she has other dysplastic joints) nor will we be doing chemo or radiation as it goes against our holisitic beliefs. I have purchased an Ozone Generator for home use and under the guidance of our vet we have been doing topical Ozone treatments to Silver's leg. I have yet to start the enema Ozone treatments because I was intending to start slowly to allow Silver to adjust to the treatments...she has had a lot of new introductions to her diet by way of herbs, homeopathics and nutritional supplements...she has always been on nutritional supplements for general health and immune function but she now takes about 45 supplements per day which clearly her body has needed to adjust to taking.
Anyway, I have never experienced an Ozone treatment so I don't know what she is experiencing (if anyone could share with me their experiences I would most appreciate hearing) but she is very distressed during the topical treatments. We put DMSO on the tumor to potentiate the Ozone and then bag the leg for 30 minutes 2 times per day...does anyone have any source of airtight bags or sleeves for topical administration because our setup is not too good?!? Her leg becomes very angry and warm...she starts panting, barking, whining...she gets very very thirsty and has an urgent need to urinate during the session. Yesterday was the first time I had worked up to two sessions and she abbreviated the session to pass very loose stools...and this is just the topical treatments. Do I assume this is the detoxicification process? Would she be experiencing pain at the tumor site? The tumor also seems to literally look inflated after a session...is this to be expected? Are any of these signs good?
Silver was already doing significantly better than when she was originally diagnosed with OS prior to starting the Ozone therapy...but given the tumor has appeared to visibly grow we started the Ozone in hopes of further extiniguishing the cancer. I would so greatly appreciate anyones input on this; we are new to Ozone therapy but not new to holisitic care so I am prepared to stay the course despite Silver's apparent discomfort (not to sound cruel!) but I don't want to be doing something that is harmful if her symptoms are indicitive of an unfavorable response to Ozone Treatments.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Andria & Silver
