Subject: [cancercured] Thomas Navarro Patient Bill of Rights Act
By Jenny Gettino
Dear Friends,
Many of you know about the struggle of young Thomas Navarro and his
family. At the age of 4,Thomas was diagnosed with a brain tumor. His
parents wanted to have him treared by Dr.Burzynski in Houston
Texas. The FDA would not allow him to use the treatment untill he
first failed conventional treatments. He was finally allowed to be
treated with Antineoplastons in April.Unfortunately,he had many
complications due to the mandatory chemo treatments and high doses of
steroids. He passed away on November 19th at the age of 6 years old.
His parents introduced a bill into Congress last year, but it did
not get the necessary support, and the bill died when the 106th
Congress session ended.
On December 13,2001,the Navarros will reintroduce this bill, this
time to Congress & Senate at the same time. This bill is very
important!!It would allow patients to have the freedom to choose a
treatment for a life-threatening disease such as cancer.Without this
bill, the FDA will continue to require patients to be subjected to
conventional treatments before they are allowed to choose a treatment
they feel will be as effective and less harmful.
*** How You Can Help***
-Please call or e mail your local representitives in Congress &
Senate.Ask them to please support the Thomas Navarro Patient Bill of
Rights Act!! (After the bill is introduced it will be assigned a
number/code that you can refer to,I'll post that when available). You
can find your local rep by going to:
http://congress.nw.dc.us/citizens/congdir.html
-you can send a tax deductable donation to Thomas's parents. They are
currently living in a temporary, donated apartment in Houston. They
need funds to make the trip to Washington D.C. They have an account
set up at ** fundrover.com ** You can find his info by typing in
Navarro,or go to "T" on alphabet choice for "T"homas Navarro. You can
donate by credit card, and the funds will be available to the family
right away.
Thanks in advance for helping in any way you feel you can.It may
be too late for Thomas, but this bill will be important to current &
future cancer patients who wish the freedom to choose their health
care!!!
By the way,I am the Mom of a 5 1/2 year old brain tumor patient. She
was diagnosed at 10 1/2 months old,and given 2-6 months to live.We
got really lucky, and she was allowed to be treated by Dr Burzynski
without being subjected to chemo & radiation. The tumor has decreased
in size by 50 % and she has remained happy and healthy without any
long-term side effects!
Every cancer patient should have the right to
the beautiful quality of life my daughter has enjoyed after receiving
the deadly diagnosis she was given 5 years ago!!
Thanks to All,
Jenny Gettino Syracuse,N.Y.
