Hello Everyone,
I am a cancer survivor that practices Qi Gong regularly and believe
it has been a large part of my surviving with cancer. Many cancer
patients, particularly in China attest to beating cancer through a
regular Qi Gong practice.
Following is a brief outline of Qi Gong:
Qi Gong (pronounced "chee kung") is an ancient Oriental method of
buidling and balancing life energy through exercise. It is a general
name for many different sets of simple exercises that emphasize the
role of movement, proper breathing and concentration.
Qi means energy (the vital life force), Gong refers to work or
exercise that requires both study and practice. A literal
translation is difficult, but can be summarized as "a method of
building and balancing energy through exercise.
When Qi Gong is practiced regularly you can expect to:
strengthen the body as a whole, stimulate the immune system to
prevent and heal illness, activate the relaxation response to reduce
stress, increase blood circulation and cardiovascular fitness,
improve digestion, improve postural alingment and flexibility,
promote deeper and more efficient respiration, increase youthfulness
and longevity, develop emotional well-being and a positive approach
to life, cultivate concentration, self-awareness, and a self -
discipline, lead a more spirtually oriented life.
With regular practice of 15-20 minutes a day initially and later 30-
40 minutes you will build and balance the body's energy to promote
health and heal illness. As a spiritual practice, it is a way of
developing one's essence energy, and spirit to live in harmony with
ourselves and the world.
I look foward to this group growing in a strong network of Qi Gong
practitioners and those who are new to the practice. I welcome you
all.
