If a brainwave entrainment program stops working for you then I'd be asking myself how much of the effect was placebo effect and how much was real. If an entrainment program, whether binaural beats, other audio techniques, visual or a combination of them, works and you entrain on it, then the effects should increase as the brain learns how the entrainment 'feels'. As most of the presets in the library are, at best, junk and of no value, I'd bet on a large dose of placebo effect.
Try creating a theta preset of your own to try. Start at 12 Hz and step down (not ramp)3 hz every 5 mins to around 6 hz and hold there for about 40 mins, then step back up. One frequency, one voice. This should induce theta and then return to an alert state. As a sleep inducer, hold theta for an hour, then step to 4 Hz and gradually reduce the volume over the next 45 mins.
Remember that entrainment is to modify our dominant brainwave frequency and there is only one dominant frequency at a time. Most of the presets attempt to use a grab bag of frequencies to do all sorts of stuff. The mixing of the tones produces all sorts of unintended tones that just confuse the brain further. Result? A few days of placebo effect followed by decreasing effect as the brain recognizes the tones as noise and begins to ignore it.
