Re: Best type of session to use

I think the first thing to realize is that we cannot fix everything with brainwave entrainment and many of her 'problems' seem to be in that category.  The fact that she has previously been on psychoactive medication adds weight to that.

Many of the problems you list when you say "She is very fantasy prone, very self centered, and can get abusive.  She also believes she has all sorts of  "mystical" and psychic abilities and all her money goes into activities of that nature" are beliefs that have been accepted by her other than conscious mind.  Her beliefs on conventional medicine and sex as well.  These beliefs may or may not be deeply help and could take a good bit of effort to change.  Whether you use conventional psychotherapy possibly supplemented with drugs, competent hypnotherapy or a derivative, subliminal suggestions or a combination of these, changing these beliefs may take years.

This also brings up, however, an ethical question of whether or not you have the right to make these decisions for her.  Being self centered and fantasy prone is not a certifiable condition, nor is believing you have psychic power.  If it were many communities on the west coast would lose large percentages of their populations to psychiatric care.  Tantric sex may not be your cup of tea but aside form requiring some chiropractic care afterward, is also neither illegal nor grounds for commitment.

You talk about things that aren't 'helpfull' to her.  People deal with the hand life deals them in different ways.  Some smoke tobacco, some drink alcohol, some eat fast food, others drink highly caffienated 'energy' potions.  All harmful - none illegal or grounds for committment.

As far as the conventional medical profession, they aren't gods and some treatments aren't really helpful.  If I break my arm, I'll go to the ER.  Twist my back and I'll see a chiropractor and for cold and allergies I see a holistic practitioner.  Many chemo patients visit holistic practitioners to alleviate some of the side effects of the chemo treatments.

I think at the end of the day you may be a bit tightly wound and overly conventional in many of your beliefs and may have fallen for a girl whose original attraction for you may have been the unconventional things that bother you now.  Belief in psychic powers, tantric sex, use of holistic health practitioners are not indicative of mental defect - rather they are protected freedoms of expression.  She can choose to believe what she chooses too - whether you believe in it or not is of no consequence - she has the right to believe.  As far as spending a good deal of her money on these things, its none of your business how she spends her money.  I spend a good bit of money on my hobbies like ham radio and slightly higher end computers than might be found in most homes (and more of them).  Others dump money into home theaters, phenomenal gardens, lavish travel or like one friend of mine who spends a three week vacation every year in an RV following Nascar.  Frankly, I wouldn't spend 5 minutes following Nascar and my wife can't imagine why I woould spend a dime on radios...but then I do don't quilt and she does.  People have hobbies and if one of hers is the mystical and occult side of things then learn to deal with it.

You may have to determine that she isn't right for you and move on to a more conventional and less adventurous partner.  It isn't fair to you or her to be continually trying to change her to suit what you want her to be.  In the end neither she nor you will be happy with the results.  Learn to loosen up and walk a bit on the wild side with her, you may like what you find.

I would say first to weight the ecology of the changes you want to make to "help her". If she's totally willing to undergo whatever changes are needed, then...
