Depression; Alpha-Theta or Beta?   Message List

Re: Depression; Alpha-Theta or Beta?

Beta (14 - 30+ Hz) is usually a normal, alert, active, wide awake state; Alpha(8 to 14 Hz) is usually awake and relaxed;  Theta(4 or 5 to 8 Hz) is a drowsy, light sleep state - good for lucid dreaming or hypnotic induction.

I'm wondering how they plan to get a brain to follow multiple dominant frequencies.  It can be done by entraining the hemispheres separately but not with binaural beats.  A Binaural Beat requires both hemispheres to mix the two carriers to produce the beat frequency.

I think another question would be what is causing the depression?  Emotional distress may be eased  with entrainment while chemical or hormonal causes may require a completely different protocol entirely to correct.

I always thought that beta waves were fast waves and alpha and theta waves were slow waves. Are there different types of depression that require different programs? How do I know which brainwaves I should use? Thank you.
