I'm doing research on significant "Milestones in Breast
Care," as
part of an educational campaign. Findings of this research will be
passed along to major national organizations, such as the National
Consortium of Breast Centers and other non-profit organizations.
For this research, I'm hoping women in this group will share
their
own thoughts about some of these significant milestones in breast
care. They can be things you've heard about, or ones that have
helped you personally.
Developments that some women have suggested include:
* Lumpectomy instead of mastectomy
* Availability of a softer mammogram with the MammoPad breast
cushion (www.MammoPad.com)
* Komen Race for the Cure fundraiser events (www.komen.org/race/)
* Development of nonsurgical breast biopsy (Mammotome --
http://www.breastbiopsy.com/ -- and the ABBI breast biopsy system)
* Tamoxifen treatment
(http://www.komen.org/bci/bhealth/html/tamoxifen.asp)
I'd appreciate any thoughts you have about these topics, and
others
you think are worth noting as important improvements in breast
health. Please post your response here, or e-mail me directly.
Thanks!
