Hi, I just wanted to give you all some background on me!   Message List

My name is Justin, I am 25/m from FL. On Nov. 14th 2006 an emergency
room doctor told me that I had a large mass in the right side of my
brain. That would explain my periodic loss of sensation on the left
side of my body.

2 days later I had surgery to remove it, it was an 8.5 hr long
surgery, and I was in a coma for 2 days afterwards. When I woke up I
could have sworn it was only a few hours later on the same day I went
into the O.R. but it wasn't. Sadly when I woke up finally, I had no
feeling or sensation in the entire right side of my body. I was like
a stroke patient. It took 2 people to get me on the toilet, well I
was 25 years old and dammed if I was using a bed pan.

I was so active before, I worked for a local distributor of
budweiser. I was in good shape and convinced this was only a minor
problem.

I spent a total of about 2 weeks in the ICU, then another week in the
regular side. I got shipped to a rehabilitaion hospital on
Thanksgiving night. I was going to have to learn how to walk and use
my left arm all over again. Thankfully by the time I got to that
place I could atleast feel my face, and most of my upper body. My
leg was a big problem. No feeling, no pain, nothing! I could see it
and that was about all I could do with it.

I finally got out of that hospital about 2 weeks later, I was able to
walk like an "ole fart" with a cane and able to go at a blistering
1/2 mile a hour. I couldn't walk far without getting exhausted. I
was still working on that with outpatient therapy and did that for
nearly 9 months after.

Well in Dec. of 06 I got rushed back to the ER with excruciating pain
in my right arm! Long story short, I had a blood clot in my arm that
ran from my wrist to my shoulder. Had to be put on blood thinners,
which was a great concern because I had just had major brain surgery.

Then a month later went back to the hospital with swelling in my head
and I lost all the feeling again in my right side. They had to give
me some serious doses of steroids to get the swelling down and for me
to get the feeling back. I stayed there for another 2 weeks.

Need-less-to-say I hate hospitals!

I still struggle with my left leg, its not the same as it was. My
left arm has totally returned along with everything else from the
waist up. That darn leg, some days I don't even feel it touching the
ground.

Oh, well. That's my story.

Thanks, Justin
