Hello Krishna;
I am sorry to hear of your father's diagnosis. I am not real knowledgeable with astrocytomas - I had an ependymoma (a glioma, but different). I did search the web and found the following site that will give you the basic information:
One thing that I noticed right away was your stating that your father might have a grade II glioma, or an anaplastic astrocytoma (which is a grade III).
Surgery is always the preferred method of treatment.
I would recommend you finding a support group. Not only will it offer support, it will also educate you (I feel that knowledge is your best way to attack this thing). You can either find a local in-person group, or one on-line. I am involved in the Brain Trust, and they offer the Braintmr list (among others).
Best of luck to you, and please email me back if you would like any further information
Bruce

Brain Tumor was detected for my Dad a Month back. It all started
with him having a seizure which affected his right hand and speech.
Before this he never had any symptoms like headache etc which is
generally associated with brain tumors.
He had a Surgery 1 week back along with the biopsy being done. The
Biopsy report mentions Glioma (Grade II) or Anaplastic Astrocytoma.
Any help with information on this kind of tumor and the best
treatment for the same will be appreciated.
Dad is recovering and still has speech and right hand movement
problems. What are the chances for full recovery and what is the
life expectancy for such cases.
Looking forward to any useful information.
Thanks
Krishna
