The purpose of this group is to research and discuss established, emerging, and potential treatments for all types of malignant primary brain tumors, especially high-grade gliomas such as Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), as well as related problems such as brain edema, seizures, infections, etc. More specifically, the group scope includes:
- Technical discussion related to treatments
- Discussion of treatment options for particular patients, focusing on the technical issues, not support issues
Again, the focus of this group is technical, and this is NOT a general support group.
All forms of treatment from both conventional medicine and complementary/alternative medicine (CAM) can be discussed. Examples of such treatments range from surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and adjuvant drugs, to diet, herbs, supplements, meditation, exercise, and spirituality.
While opposing opinions will sometimes arise, debate should take place respectfully, without personal attacks, with an open mind, and with the understanding that the purpose is to rationally weigh evidence and learn the truth so that patient outcomes can be improved.
If desired, questions or comments related to this group may be directed off-list to the group founder/moderator, Irfan Alvi, at iaa@comcast.net.
