Hello.
I am Wilma Jack, the group moderator of "BPDartists". To join please

I'd like to
begin discourses in art and BPD by writing a little bit about
myself. I am a 23 year old female artist who is currently residing
in NY. At the moment, I am enrolled in a graduate arts education
program at NYU. After completing one semester, I find myself very
fulfilled because I am in the midst of a community of
artists, learners and educators. Still, I'm finding something lacking
in my studies and art. I am realizing that now is the time to
educate myself and others on what it means to be inflicted with
Borderline Personality Disorder. Up until now I have tried to
overlook this diagnosis as I did not want to dwell in a label that
may inevitably affect my functioning. However, now I am finding that
overlooking such a condition is preventing me from achieving self-
realization and a strong sense of identity. I have often felt
alienated because I have never had the opportunity do have a
conversation with someone who can understand the loneliness, anger,
drastic mood shifts, and peek senses that people with Borderline
Personality Disorder experience on a day to day basis. I hope that
as a community of artists we can work collaboratively and
individually to better understand and examine the ways in which
expression and education through art can enable us to live fulfilled
lives. In doing so, we may be able to combat negative stereotypes
related to mental illness that are pervasive in our society. I'd
love to hear more about other artists with BPD. Let us
begin the dialogue.....
