Welcome to the inaugural members of the Beckman Oral Motor Research Institute list serve!  This site is a part of the vision of the future for therapists who are using Beckman Oral Motor Assessment and Intervention Protocol..  It is my hope that through on going collaboration nation wide and world wide, each of us as clinicians can assist in building the body of research needed to guide the application of this method for those individuals we treat who are not able to move the muscles of the face as needed for important and basic functions such as control of secretions, eating, drinking, facial expression and speech.  Your input is critical to this endeavor.  Much work remains to be done and we are the ones to do it.

I love a skeptic, because a skeptic is a thoughtful person.  If we give a thoughtful person well designed and well executed research to contemplate, we will increase the number of supporters to provide the Beckman Oral Motor Assessment and Intervention Protocol.  The more information available for this protocol, the more clients who will benefit from this simple but systematic approach.
