The Bodywork, Movement and Focusing forum is intended for those interested in synthesizing any of a number of bodywork and movement practices with the self-discovery methodology known as Focusing. Focusing is a process for directing the attention inward to a cleared space where bodily felt senses can emerge. It is often these felt senses that provide clarity and shifts in understanding of formerly vague and unarticulated yearnings. Focusing involves the verbalizing of these bodily-felt states. This group formed out of the interest group for bodyworkers at the 2004 International Focusing Conference in Costa Rica. We came from varied disciplines, including Feldenkrais, Shiatsu, Trager, Reiki, Acupuncture, Esalen Massage, Yoga and Movement Therapy. We together felt that bodywork, movement and Focusing share a special resonance for reaching deeply into personal process that deserves further exploration.

Bodyworkers and movement practitioners from a variety of disciplines are invited to participate, as are non-bodyworkers interested in Focusing. We look forward to a growing dialogue together.

Meeting at the Edge: Focusing in the Body-Centered Professions, a 3-day residential workshop.
Location: Ischia, Italy (see pictures in photo section).

This workshop is intended for practitioners, teachers and students of bodywork, acupuncture, yoga, movement therapies and body-based psychotherapies who would like to explore their listening and meaning-making with peers in a mutually supportive and relaxing environment.
