Re: [Body for Life Women's Club] measurements up

Seeeee! An inch smaller!!

That freaking out over a number or a measurement is so common that I
sometimes wonder if people aren't in some way expecting to fail. Instead of
focusing on ALL the positives, they're actively searching for evidence that
it isn't working (not talking about you personally because if you're into
your second challenge, you're obviously dedicated and succeeding) but in
general, that's what people do. Oh no, I've gained a pound and a half. I'd
better go back to Weight Watchers. Or, my jeans are feeling tighter in the
thigh, I knew I shouldn't be lifting those weights.

Well, nobody ever ended up in worse shape by lifting challenging weights,
doing intense cardio, and eating clean balanced meals. The numbers are going
to go up and down and around in circles. That's what numbers do. But if you
look at the big picture, you WILL get fit by following BFL guidelines.
There's no way not to.

If a measurement or a scale weight goes up a little, assume it's a fluke and
give it a few days to go down. If it stays up or creeps up further - there's
your feedback. It doesn't mean the program doesn't work, it means there's
something you could be doing better or differently to improve your results.
Maybe your free days are a little too free, your portions a little too big,
your carbs a little too bread-heavy, your workouts a little too easy.

Take a look at things, make a change, and then measure your results again.
If they're good, keep doing what you're doing. If they're still not up to
par, make another change and reevaluate. It's really rare to do everything
perfectly on the first try and have it continue to work from then
on. That adjust-evaluate-adjust procedure continues no matter how fit
you become or which program you follow.

If you don't like your results, change something and check them again. There
is no failure, only feedback.

You should be getting 25-35g of fiber a day on any plan. A lot of people who were used to getting their fiber (pre-BFL) from bread and cereal have to rethink...
