Hi...it's Great to hear updates from everybody!

Jen...Awesome...so glad you had a Wonderful Experience with competing in your
Figure Competition!  I know...when we compete in Figure Competitions, we learn
so much about our bodies & we also have to learn how to deal with emotions other
than dealing with them by eating.  Yes, I agree with Steve...can we please see
some pictures??!!  I meant to e-mail you before the show but I hadn't heard any
more from you so I wasn't sure if you were still competing in the show but you
did -- Yeah!!  Did you see Michelle Lee at the show also?  I know she competed
in the same show!  GREAT JOB!!

Bonnie...wow...you did tons of events this past year!  You are like the
Energizer Bunny!  You Go, Girl!

Steve...I'm glad you're still enjoying your classes and learning tons!  It
sounds like the P90X is a great workout!  It's nice to change things up a bit
and do some new things.

Rebecca...Have Fun in Florida!  I'm sure you will ENJOY the Sun (hopefully, it
will be Sunny outside when you're in FL).

Ben...I hope all is going well with you!

Tanya...I hope all is going well with you also!

**I went to Denver in October for the Transformation Conference and I did it...I
ran (jogged) the entire 1/2 Marathon (13.1 miles)!  I don't consider myself a
runner but was happy to attain my goal of running the entire 13.1 miles without
walking!  The entire event was "First Class" and we all had a Wonderful time!
Bill Phillips is hosting another Transformation.com event in Dallas in March
2010 and another event in Denver in October 2010...so if you're at all intested
in learning more about Transformation.com & the upcoming events -- you can go
to www.transformation.com.  We are doing a Healthy Holiday Challenge (HHC) via
T.com right now (11/1/09-12/31/09) to help us have a healthier Holiday season!!

Have a Great week! :)

Cheers to all of our Accomplishments! :)
Cindy

Great update, Jen! Congratulations on all of your accomplishments!!! 4th place
is awesome aside from your dedication, hard work and self discipline!

I would have loved to cheer you on at the tri! Hills are indeed a killer!

I did a few events this past summer to include the outdoor LTF Tri on a team for
the Olympic distance, HOLT Olympic, along with a full marathon, 2 halfs and a
25k trail race, the 5 mile Minnetonka relay swim. And then I blew out my other
ankle. I did updates for most of these here. :)

As the director of the Lakeville Indoor tri, I will not be participating. I love
to help others have the opportunity to become triathletes and get a fun day in
of training as well!

Currently I have just begun my training for a full Ironman. I will be having
surgery on my right ankle but am training up to the surgery.

Keep us posted on the Chan tri and your decision for the May show.
You are an inspiration!

I'm going out for a run later today because my achille's finally seems to be
improving. Because of that, I've also been able to get my P90X routine back on
track. Man, that thing is a butt kicker!

Of course, school has been taking up most of my time recently. It's interesting
to see what I have learned through BFL being reinforced with my learning in
anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and general nursing care. Most of the
illnesses we suffer from as a society are directly related to personal lifestyle
choices. When we do get sick from a non-lifestyle influenced disease, our
recovery prognosis is much brighter if we led a healthy lifestyle prior to

Jen, do you have any photos from your competition or training?

       Hey Everyone, Hey Bonnie!

Wow, great to hear from you. How are YOU? Are all of your body parts healed

and doing well? I think the last time I heard was an operation on your foot,

ankle???? Hope I didn't get that totally wrong :-) You know, I was also

going to tell you..I did the Baker Tri.I would loved to have seen you

there..see, just another reason to update everyone :-) What an awesome Tri

that was.can you say HILLS!!!

Did someone say Reece's Cup? Ugggg.I just came off of my Northern States

Natural so I actually didn't do too bad with the candy because it makes me

so sick! The show was definitely an awesome experience and I learned a ton

about how my body reacts (or should I say doesn't react) to food and

training. It ended up being the biggest show they've had for Elk River which

was very exciting. There were so many beginner figure competitors they ended

up splitting them up into a short and tall class. I didn't exactly get to

where I wanted to be for the show but I didn't walk away empty handed either

so I guess that's ok. I ended up 4th place in the master's class and 4th

place in the beginner's tall class. I was wishing I had one more month but

it is what it is. Now I just have to decide if I want to do the May natural

show or not. I'm very undecided at this point. On one hand I still want to

reach my 8% body fat goal but on the other hand it's going to be a much

bigger show and I probably wouldn't place at all.not sure my fragile ego can

handle it.

Are you doing the Indoor Tri? I would love to help out but I will be doing

child care at church that Sunday. I am planning on doing the Lifetime

Chanhassen on 12/13. I've never done the indoor one, should be fun!

Let's hear from everyone!!! Although, hopefully everyone is OUTSIDE

today.that's where I'm heading right now :-)

Have a great weekend,

Jen

Good morning Team!

We are in dire need of some updates! How is everyone doing?

Did you survive the onslaught of Halloween candy?? The holidays are upon us

and it is the perfect time to start a challenge and stay strong if you are

in the middle of one! Remember- holidays are not a free card for eating

poorly and skipping workouts. We need to keep reminding ourselves not to

associate food with fun, food with happiness etc. I am glad I don't watch tv

so that I don't have to see all of those false images telling us we'll feel

better, have more fun, more friends etc if we eat this or that!

On Sunday, November 22nd we have the last indoor triathlon of the season at

the Lakeville Lifetime Fitness! You don't have to be a member to volunteer

or participate. Here's the cool news- in addition to helping others succeed

in their goals all volunteers also get to race for free in the final wave!

So, if you've considered doing a triathlon but are intimidated by the

outdoor ones or would like to watch (and volunteer) to get a feel for what

goes on and have the option of participating in the end free of charge, this

is the perfect opportunity for you! *Or just come and volunteer for a great

cause and a lot of fun!

*Ben helped out last time and can tell you how he liked it and what his

experience was.

We are short 10 volunteers so please give it some thought!!

My new cell is: 651-278-0849.

Let me know if you can help make a difference!!

bon

up splitting them up into a short and tall class.

Jen

Triathlon!

I'm still only doing P90X at about 50% because I'm trying to adapt to the higher

Rebecca,
The best way to describe it is a simplified carb cycling regimen. The first
month is low carbs and then they are slowly reintroduced the last two months.

Congratulations on your progress. I am very curious how the food plan on P90X
differs from BFL eating. Let me know.

Okay, I'm wrapping up two weeks on P90X and the knees are much better. I'm still
panting like a mad dog but as I stand there with my hands on my hips dripping
sweat, I notice that there is less of me around my waist and hips. I'm down 5
pounds since starting and I've been making progress on the reps. I still haven't
incorporated Ab Ripper X into the workouts but hopefully, that will happen this
week.

I'm also slowly transitioning my nutrition from BFL style to P90X style and can
definitely notice the difference.

Cindy,

Thanks for your well wishes.  I wish I was doing well; however, I have developed
yet another blood clot.  This makes blood clot #3.  I wish I would have listened
to my gut feeling, when my doctor said, "I think you'll be ok going off of the
blood thinners."  I just didn't feel right about it especially since after the
last clot they had no idea why it developed.  I have to go through the whole
human pin cushion event again.  But everything happens for a reason and I'm sure
it will become clear to me why one of these days.  At least they didn't take me
off work.  I can't stand laying in bed for days on end-boring!  I'm definately
grateful to be above ground!  Count your blessings, right?

On a brighter note, one of my co-workers gave me awesome seats to the Viking's
game in a few weeks so that is totally cool!

I'm glad that everyone is keeping active-I will hopefully be able to get active
very soon!  Please do a workout in my honor-I would be ever so grateful.  I'm
enjoying all of your fun bantering back and forth-keep it up!

Have a fabulous day!

I just have to say...Bonnie- don't take Cindy's wisdom too literally! No
catapulting over your bike handlebars or down stairs or anything!!!

I discovered the best way to ruin a protein smoothie. Accidentally drop the
plastic corner that you cut off the fruit bag into the blender and have to pick
out little blended plastic bits out of your mouth with each zip. I'm sure
there's nutritional value in there somewhere right?

Steve-How was Plyo?? I can't do most of the high impact P90x for a while on
strict instructions from my PT...so now I have to live vicariously through you!

Hey, Bonnie...Sorry to hear about you destroying your ATF. Swimming sounds like
a great alternative for right now. I'm sure you will be ready for your winter
marathon -- you are always "strong" and have the motivation and desire to heal &
catapult forward!

Take care,

Cindy

Destroyed the ATF (tendon). Thankfully, that was the only thing I destroyed. It
is a level 3 and all of my races are cancelled for the rest of the summer as is
my running. I am thankful to be able to bike slowly and this week I get to take
on swimming. I am refocusing for a potential winter marathon since my fall
marathon is completely out the door.

help.

~Rebecca

Steve...You' re so funny!!  I'm glad the P90X is pushing you harder than you're
used to (LOL)!!  I have to say...I'm curious to try the P90X workouts!  Way to
go with trying something new!

Kerstin...You' re funny also...I never thought of that...You're right...Bonnie
has been known to have some injuries during biking so I could totally see her
catapulting over the handlebar!  Bonnie...you' re a Great sport about
everything!

Also, Kerstin...Congratul ation on winning the Women's Team Division in the St.
Paul Triathlon -- Great job!

Rebecca...I hope you're doing well!  It's always challenging losing somebody you
love; I'm sure your Grandpa is now looking over you & being your "guardian
angel."

Jen...I hope your training is going well & that you're feeling like you're
making great progress with training for your figure competition!

Tanya...I hope all is going well with you!

Ben,
You'll have to find another vicarious victim because I was only able to complete
about half of the Plyometrics the first time through. Dang, I'm outta shape! I
was so light headed doing that routine.

My body had adapted so well to the BFL HIIT workouts, I didn't know how bad I
was aerobically. I'm also nursing an inflammed achille's tendon, so I had to be
careful with all the jumping and leaping. I had accupuncture for the first time
on Monday and that seems to have helped. I'm going to go for a few more
porcupine sessions and see if I can get this thing cured once and for all!

Thanks for the kind words, Cindy!

Kerstin- Funny! - I did actually picture myself pull vaulting forward! Lol
No fun on the plastic pieces in your protein drink. :p

Today I am attempting (finally) my first open water swim in over a month.
Actually it is my first anything swim in over a month! Wearing my wetsuit since
I always get the jitters especially if I haven't been in the water recently.

What a beautiful day!
I hope everyone enjoys it and is doing well.

I just have to say...Bonnie-don't take Cindy's wisdom too literally! No
catapulting over your bike handlebars or down stairs or anything!!!

Hey, Ben....Great Job with running! It's great you are listening to your body &
didn't push yourself too hard because sometimes we injure ourselves more when we
"push" too hard.

I can totally understand the "Mental" stamina...it's challenging for me to run
the long distances. Last night I was supposed to go for my 4-mile run and after
1 mile, I was feeling unmotivated so I started doing a walk/sprint for the last
3 miles! Now, that motivates me more than the long-distance runs -- so there is
definitely some "resistance" going on with me running those long distances. I
do much better when I run in the morning...but usually only do morning runs on
the weekends!

Thanks for sharing the story about the guy you saw...it is true...it's about
being Grateful for our bodies and what our bodies can do!

Have an Awesome rest of the week!
Cindy

Well, this morning was my first P90X workout and I think my knees took the brunt
of the workout. It's not because of the leg exercises, but rather, crawling on
my hands and knees to reach the remote control so that I could hit the pause
button!

Dang, what a workout! I was doing about 1/2 to 1/3 the reps of the "kids" and
was sweating like a waterfall. I'm either gonna be in the best shape of my life
at the end of these 90 days or dead. If I don't post on day 90, you'll know what
happened.

Steve

Ben-what a cool story! I loved it and it really helped put things in perspective
for me as I have been feeling really down on not being able to run. But there
are so many other things I can do. I just need to remember my mantra: "Focus on
What you CAN do."

Bonnie-I'm glad you are able to stay active-at least you got to do Grandma's!! I
am volunteering for the Twin Cities marathon as a course marshall near the
finish line since I can't run it. You could always volunteer at the events you
were going to run-it's a great way to stay involved and get psyched up.

Steve-Good luck with P90x! I just love it. I did Yoga X on Sat. and Chest,
Shoulders, and triceps yesterday. I'm not able to stick to the full program due
to my schedule now with my class starting, and working my real job and working
at the Y as a trainer,  but I'm going to incorporate it where I can.

Things on my end are going fine. As I said I start my class today, so all my
workouts will be in the morning now, so pretty much swimming with my master's
team, walking with a friend, and P90x on weekends. I'm going to try to
incorporate some weights and biking over my lunch breaks when I can.

On Sunday two good friends and I did the Saint Paul Triathlon as a team again-I
convinced them to do this with me last year, as one friend had never done a
triathlon before. Last year we won the women's team division and I'm proud to
say we reclaimed our victory this year as well! We didn't stay for the awards
because we never thought we'd win again....so it was pretty fun to look up the
results and see our names up there. Now we have a reputation to uphold big time
next year!!

I even swam the 1/2 mile swim 7 seconds faster despite being 15 lbs heavier and
more out of shape then I was last summer for a time of 14:45. I was so tired and
nauseous at the end so I know I pushed it as hard as I could. It was a beautiful
day and we had a great time.

My personal training is also starting to pick up. I have business cards,
incorporated, and have a few clients at the Y and a few on the side. I just love
it and wish I had more time to do it.

That's about it-Hope everyone is doing well.

Jennifer-Hope the training for your show is going well.

Rebecca-Hope you're doing well too!

Hey Ben, that's great that you are pushing it and trying something out of your
comfort zone. Tomorrow I will be doing the same as I start my P90X challenge!

                  Hey everybody,

In an effort to stretch my running chops, I tried to run my own 5K.  *When* I
run, I usually go a couple miles, but I want to work up to a 5K of actually
running.  So, today I set out with a 3.4mi course.

After 2.5mi, my ankle was starting to wear out, and since I've been rehabing it,
I didn't want to push it too hard, so I just went on to walk the rest.

I'm working my mental stamina up to really pushing myself in workouts, but
lately, I've had a hard time with workouts I'm not used to (i.e. running).

While I was walking the last stretch to my house, I passed a home for disabled
adults, and there was a guy sitting out on the front porch, and I said "hi".
He raised up his arm to wave, but couldn't uncurl his fingers.  Apparently his
speech was a challenge as well.

At that point, very tired myself, I was thankful to have a body that could at
least run, if only for a couple miles.

Ben

Wow, Kerstin! What a great update!
Congratulations on your team's success at the St. Paul Tri!!! How cool is that!!

Very good to hear your clientele base is picking up. Nice!

Great personal mantra and whole heartedly agree. :)

I volunteer as often as possible. Especially because I host triathlons, along
with race, I value volunteers SO much and try to do what I can to pay if
forward. I volunteered most recently at the YMCA Women Only triathlon. That was
cool. My next event to volunteer at is Ironman Wisconsin and I am very excited
about that!

I hear ya and feel ya on the not being able to run. I have a few more weeks
before my doctor will even let me try. Can't wait to be able to run consistently
again!

Big hug to you!
