Angela,
I suppose Myoplex is the only product recommended, but it's certainly
not the only one you can use. I evaluated a lot of products.
Besides EAS products, I used one called Pro Complex, made by Optimum
Nutrition. It's a good value ($40 for a 4.4 lb. container),
aspartame-free, tastes good, and includes about 5 grams of glutamine
per serving. Because of my dairy allergies (it contains whey
protein), I switched to an all egg protein, Vitalabs Ultra Egg 24,
which also tastes very good and is a decent value if you buy online.
($16.50 for 2 lbs.)
There are two supplements that most authorities believe are
worthwhile - creatine and glutamine. Here is some advice I got from
Dell White, a trainer at Main Event Fitness in Marietta. Take some
creatine (3 to 5 grams) in either a shake or with water within an
hour before your workout. This helps you get a more intense
contraction in the muscle. Immediately after your workout, drink
some water mixed with both creatine and glutamine (I use 5 grams of
each and I weigh 172 lbs.) This helps prevent wasting of muscle
tissue and speeds recovery. About 10 minutes after drinking your
water/creatine/glutamine, have your post work-out shake.
The products that mix dextrose with creatine carry the creatine to
the muscle more quickly. I use plain creatine (cheaper) and add a
small amount of raw honey to the mixture. I used EAS creatine. Make
sure you use a reputable brand as much of it out there is junk.
Following the BFL nutrition plan will take care of the rest of your
body's needs.
Stick with it and you will see results.

need to take supplements and if so what kind.
