Paul,
I too live in B'ham and have completed 2 BFL challenges. While my
results are not spectacular, I am EXTREMELY satified with the changes
BFL has enabled me to make in my body. My before-and-afters are
posted at http://www.halfaworldaway.org/bfl.htm. See for yourself, if
you care to.
My advice would be to do one cycle as close as you can to the BFL
guidelines before changing anything. EAS charges a lot for the
products. You can find better prices almost anywhere. Try
http://www.jerseyjoe.com/. I have bought from them many times. They
ship Fed-Ex for just 5 bucks. It's hard to get enough protien in
without doing the shakes twice a day. I find that when I compare the
price of the shakes to actual food, I probably save money!
I use a lot of various supplements. I definitely recommend creatine,
it's cheap and it works. Glutamine is good too, but a bit more
expensive. The supplements are all optional though.
When I first started BFL, I was tempted to alter BFL to fit my
lifestyle. I preferred working out in the evening or afternoon. I
ended up deciding that despite working out in the gym and watching my
diet, I never got the results I wanted doing it my way. I decided to
commmit to doing BFL by the book to see if it worked. Boy did it! I
lost 46 lbs of fat, my blood pressure and resting heart rate dropped
to normal levels; cholesterol and triglyserides decreased to very
healthy levels; and my physique looks better at 40 than it did at
sixteen! Did I mention that I have much more energy and sleep better?
I'm not gonna kid you. The first six weeks are rough. Once I had
detoxed off of sugar, and gotten used to the morning workouts, then I
found the program pretty easy to maintain. I finished the second
challenge about 3 months ago and am now working on the Body Rx
program. I work out at Steel City Fitness in Homewood. If I can help
with anything else, just let me know. My email address is
mojo<removethis>@halfaworldaway.(and this too!)org.
Good Luck!
