Subject: KFSH&RC PACS Administrator Course
As you may be aware many institutions in the Kingdom have implemented or are in the process of implementing a PACS solution for Radiology, Cardiology, Dental or Pathology digital services. The management of these IT based solutions is often handled via one or two PACS Administrators with a support team which can include: IT professionals, onsite vendor engineers, clinical master users, etc. In order to promote locally this rapidly expanding medical technology field and to assist people whom are in it and/or are planning to enter it, a 3-day PACS Administrator course entitled "PACS Technology Review, Acquisition, Implementation and Clinical Operation" will be hosted at the KFSH&RC in Riyadh between the dates of 6 – 8 April 2009.
The PACS administrator course has been set up from onset to cover material that is often encountered when acquiring, implementing and operating PACS solutions, in addition to the review of current technology and terminology like DICOM 3.0, HL7, RIS, HIS. The faculty will consist of local experts and vendor specialist in PACS. Open session forums will be held as well at the end of each day to discuss topics that are often troublesome to institutions, vendors and PACS Administrators. It is the intent of the hosting institution and organizing committee to contribute to the continuing education of PACS Administrators and associated support staff; and to also provide a medium for the exchange of PACS expertise. The attached documentation includes all the necessary course early registration details.
