Northwest Institute for Bio-health Informatics Fellowships

Salary £27,116 - £42,573 p.a.

We seek highly motivated academics to develop world-class

research in the newly-formed Northwest Institute for Bio-Health

Informatics (NIBHI) www.nibhi.org.uk

NIBHI is a unique initiative to create a critical mass of informatics

scholarships across a range of scales of informatics-dependent

research in the health and life sciences, from genetic to societal

levels. The initiative is led by the University of Manchester, in a

consortium including the Northwest Development Agency, the

Department of Trade and Industry, AstraZeneca and the University

of Liverpool, linking bioinformatics and health informatics activities

across the Northwest of England. The NIBHI hub is located in

the University of Manchester Medical School, with advanced grid

computing facilities on academic and NHS networks, and a regional

network of Access Grid nodes. Immediate partners are the

e-Science Centre Northwest, the Department of Computer Science,

UK Biobank, the Division of Epidemiology and Health Sciences,

including the MRC Centre for Integrated Genomic Medical Research,

the Biostatistics Group and the Evidence for Population Health Unit,

and Salford Royal Hospitals NHS Trust.

Research Fellow in e-Epidemiology Ref: MHS/099/05

Research Fellow in Personal Health Systems Ref: MHS/100/05

Research Fellow in Microarray Analysis Ref: MHS/101/05

Education and Development

Fellow in Health Informatics Ref: MHS/102/05

Pensionable salaries in the range £27,116 - £40,091 p.a. with possible

extension to the range £34,227 - £42,573 p.a. or clinical alternatives

for an exceptional candidate. Part-time working may be considered.

Posts are available immediately and tenable for three years in the

first instance.
