Full-time PhD Studentship
Statistical modelling of disease progression in glaucoma
Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness and visual
impairment. A PhD studentship is available to research new quantitative,
statistical and computational techniques for an imaging technique currently
being used in clinics to diagnose and monitor glaucoma patients.
The project is an exciting one and benefits from
collaboration with leading international vision researchers at
A suitable candidate will have a good honours degree, or MSc in Medical informatics, Mathematics,
Statistics or Computing. Knowledge of vision science will not necessarily be
required but computer-programming skills will be an advantage. The 3-year
studentship is open to UK and EU candidates only and is worth around £11K per
annum (tax free), with all fees for PhD registration waived. The project is
funded by an educational grant from Pfizer Ltd.
Applications (CV, including 2 referees and a statement of
interest), or request for further details, should be submitted to the project
supervisor, Dr. David Crabb, School of Science, Nottingham Trent University,
Clifton Campus, Nottingham, NG11 8NS.
