This is not a marketing forum for soliciting birth products or services.
This is a grass roots effort to provide evidence based information and an independent thinking environment for parents, especially mothers, to ask questions in a space free of judgement and birth choice bias. We believe that women sharing knowledge will make a difference in the women's health movement.
Independent Childbirth creates opportunities for public dialogue by bringing together the public and birth professionals to learn about current, credible information. Independent Childbirth promotes evidence-based, physiological birth practices which lead to maternal and neonatal care that maintains health beginning with pregnancy through parturition and into the postpartum period.
In the US, the rates of surgical birth and other interventions have soared beyond those of other developed nations, and are far above international recommendations. Despite a steady food supply, clean water, and practitioner options the rate of maternal and infant mortality - adjusted for reporting methodology - is significantly higher than that of other developed nations. It is our mission to improve maternal outcomes and a mother's birth experience in America in addition to decreasing the exporting of our technological interventions to other countries.

This conference is for parents, friends and families of newly expecting mothers and all birth care professionals!
