Hi Marysol,
It was good to speak with you today after such a long
while!
Welcome to the real world of vanishing high-quality
hi-tech--I mean here that AKG D550 mic which is no
longer made, hard to find remaining units, and is the
only item that will be adequate for your purpose. In
my own search for replacement equipment to do
astrosonics over several years I have found what I
needed no longer made, and replacements are in
museums. The only remaining alternative new all
digital methods have some serious downsides not
recognized much yet, much less adequately fixed.
I'm writing here mainly about the basal harmonic
signature you have found, which based on my work with
Laurel Keyes' Toning as related to astrosonics I can
see will very likely be composed of the main
astrosonic frequencies from the most emphasized
aspects of a person's chart, and am wondering how this
can be compared with the similarly fixed and
characteristic microrhythm signature that Dr. Manfred
Clynes has found very significant composers all have,
an essentic signature as he calls it described at
microsoundmusic.com. I rate his discovery highly as
the most significant advance so far to understanding
why some performances of a given composer are more
realistically and authentically recognizable as a
those of that given significant composer.
We are here comparing a set of frequencies as
Marysol's signature with a set of timing modulation
envelopes in Clyne's essentic signature--which is an
indicator of the composer's characteristic emotional
set on 4 stacked levels that uniquely characterize the
composer and when imposed on a performance of that
composer, render it authentic. I think there is an
equivalence worth much study here because a rhythm
speeded up becomes a timbre, a fundamental frequency
and upper partial non-integer harmonic set. This means
an essentic signature should be convertible to a
timbre which could be compared to Marysol's signatures
converted into a timbre by taking the lowest
componenet frequency and additively synthesizing a
fourier sum of the remaining frequencies as upper
partials each taken with an amplitude relative to that
found for the frequency in the signature.
The comparison of the two types of signature would
provide a key to the generators emotional dynamics.
I am suggesting checking this as a future project when
there may be sufficient time and interest after your
first netclass for the new software.
