From what I gathered from the ABPA inventor's DVD, it's been deliberately engineered to be rendered useless if opened, to thwart the reverse engineering of those who would try to copy it. In this world of copyright law (which basically only gives an inventor the right to spend a fortune on lawyers to protect his intellectual property after it's been pirated) I think this is a very sensible strategy. Unfortunately, this is also why I'm nervous about taking one through airline checkout. I can just imagine someone official taking a knife or screw-driver to mine to check for contraband. This machine is too important to me and mine.

Hence one is instructed NOT to open it because apparently sensitive settings will render the machine unusable

 

I happen NOT to be an expert on the unit but with my past history of radio electronics, that’s how I feel about the unit
