Wow Al, that is very sad to hear. Besides the fireman obviously being ridiculous to pretend he was concerned about someone's safety, I can't believe some of the comments that people wrote to the paper.

If those people were truly concerned about road safety they would do something about the approx 30,000 motorists who die each year.

Bicycling is a lot safer because you have much more control over yourself and others - as long as you do it right, of course.

I hope your son gets over the shock soon.

This is my son and his family out for a Sunday ride. They were returning home and had a couple more miles to go.  The article had my grandson’s age incorrect he is really 5 years old.

 

I think all bike riders have or will experience some level of confrontation with drivers, and I have noticed of late that there appears to be a lot more anger on the road.

 

Please feel free to forward this to other Bike clubs/ organizations.
