For many years I commuted between HP in west Roseville and Newcastle.
Often I went thru Lincoln. In the years before the casino, I would
sometimes take Industrial. It wasn't great, but it was fast and there
wasn't too much traffic (if you didn't mind the few concrete trucks
and solid waste trucks). After the casino opened, I figured there was
too great a chance of getting run over by someone that was in a big
hurry to loose their money, or was drunk after loosing all their money.
Hwy 65 is also an option. I think it is legal to get on at Blue Oaks,
I didn't do it too often, but it was the fastest way to get there.
Currently the best way that isn't much longer is this route that takes
roads east of 65 and goes by the new Rocklin HS. There is a very
badly designed section of bike path for part of this route (it tries
to be a class 1 path, off street, but requires one to make some very
unsafe moves to use it, I just ride on the road):
