Ah! the Xtracycle is amazing. It's a steel frame attachment ( called
the 'free radical') that pushes your rear wheel back 15", it then has
other aluminum frame pieces that fit into the main steel part - to
form a fram around your rear wheel. It then has these really awesome
bags - like over sized panniers called 'freeloaders'. they can hold
amazing amounts of stuff - they're completely adjustable & can pretty
much hold anything you want. Over the top you have a piece of wood
called the snap deck - its works as a table, footrest, places for
those items that don't fit in your bags, or a place for a friend to
ride. Since your freeloader bags sit not much higher than the back
wheel it handles amazingly loaded. Then length isn't all that
noticeable either, when you see it it looks like it would be hard to
ride, but it isn't-it's actually more stable because of the long
wheelbase.
They have other add ons like the 'wideloaders' which i have, they
slide in under your bags to hold really wide items more easily. I
actually put those on, then throw a rubber maid tote on it & tie it
down & take my dog for rides - my 50lb border collie!! haha!
There are so many things you can do with it. I grocery shop in all the
time, run to the post office etc. It's been my 'car' for the last
year! I love it
I have tons of pic on Flickr under the name akyramoto.
i will also try to post some on here.
if you ever wanted to use your bike to really do all the thing you
would with a car, check out the Xtracycle.
