BikingRoseville Members,
Item 7.29 on tomorrow's City Council consent calendar is a proposal to remove the bicycle prohibition in the Washington Blvd. underpass. This is a wonderful change as it opens up a key route across the rail yard by allowing cyclists to use the underpass roadway and to ride rather than walk their bikes on the elevated walkway.
There is one element of the signage plan that I disagree with and plan to bring to the City Council's attention tomorrow night. At the northbound entrance to the underpass, the "Bicycles Prohibited" sign would be replaced with a "Bicycles Not Advised" sign. I believe a much better plan would be to post both a bicycle warning sign (yellow diamond with bicycle logo) and a "Share The Road" sign so that motorists are warned that there may be bicycles in the underpass.
Please plan to attend the City Council meeting to show your support as cyclists.
Regards,
David Allen
