Hey, wow! I'm not near you(I'm in Georgia), but
my sister is in the same town you are in! She isn't
currently doing the challenge, so this has no relevence,
but I hope to convince her to take the challenge when
she sees my end results. I'm currently in my 3rd
week. I'm seeing a difference but it is not big enough
for others to notice yet. Hope you hit all of your
'10's' this week! Angie
Hi Bob,<br><br>I have a Timex Ironman Triathalon
watch with a transmitter that straps to my chest. It
works great. I have found that after wearing it a few
times it really is not much help as I can gauge the
intensity of my workout by how I feel. Hope that
helps.<br><br>Ken <br><br>Ken
Hey-<br>I'm also a college student doing BFL I
attend AiPH in Philadelphia. I'm very inspired by
everyones success with the program and how you have all
overcome your adversity. Keep up the great work. Its so
inspiriing to read about the progress of everyone. Thanks
for creating a club like this, were when you read
what others have written your can feel the positive
energy that flows through the club. I'm very sure the
creator Bill Phillips is very proud of all you and wishes
everyone continued success. Best of Health to all -Chris
I'll be underway from monday till this friday, then I'll be here for another

possible..promise<br><br>JJ
I actually lost 20 lbs. in bootcamp. This is
going to sound funny, but I was married when I went to
bootcamp, so my ex liked the weight loss. I mean I wasn't
fat, but back then I wasn't in great shape (nov. 00 -
jan 01 ) We got divorced a year ago, and I know I was
young, it didn't work out, I had a problem with her
having boyfriends ;) <br><br>-JJ
Hey Jessica,<br><br>Good to hear about the
attitude change. They say this program is for mental and
physical health. It must be tough being a vegetarian, so I
read up on some info for you. Your body cannot start
to use the protein you consume until all the amino
acids are present in your body. Problem is this stuff
is commonly found in read meats. Try taking some
amino acids gel tablets or something, because you're
are taking a very very healthy source of protein. I
just moved here to Norfolk last summer, so I'm
adjusting to the area, I was born and raised in southern
Cali. I like it here, it's not bad. Keep us updated
Jessica<br><br>- JJ
Hey ~<br>Unlike seemingly everyone else.. I am
not in the navy or any military branch.. I'm a
college student at vcu in richmond (though during the
summers i live at home in Norfolk, VA).. I'm a vegetarian
(vegan actually, so i eat no dairy, eggs, or any animal
product at all).. so this challenge is pretty challenging
for me ;) I'm in my 3rd week starting today and can
already see results - especially in my attitude. I am so
looking forward to building strong muscles and being more
lean.. Before bfl i was in my normal-healthy weight
range.. but being that i ate virtually NO protein! I
was/am very soft looking :D anyhow.. making this new
lifestyle fit around my needs has been fun and i'm learning
tons about nutrition that i never knew.. and to think
before now i was almost completely void of a very
essential nutrient! <br>(for anyone wondering "how in the
hell is she doing this??" I've just incorporated a lot
of soy protein, mok meat, tofu, more soy protein and
more mok meat into my diet than ever
before..!)<br><br>take care everyone - <br>Jessica
Thanks for the encouragement JJ. I am really
sticking to the program and it is really starting to get
easier. At the end of last week I realized that this will
be a forever lifestyle for me. I just can't imagine
going back to the 'old way' of living. I feel great
after my exercise every day. Good idea about dedicating
this challenge to your girlfriend. I'm sure your
girlfriend will LOVE your new physique! I remember when my
husband finished bootcamp. He had gained 40lbs. of lean
mass! He went in only weighing 135lb. I was amazed and
I couldn't stop thinking about him. Ahhh to be 20
again. Thats O.K., when I'm done with this challenge
I'll be more in shape than I was then! Keep going, BFL
all the way! Angie
You have people who have had 3 children, back
surgery, busy schedules and serious depressions turn their
lives around. I know my life isn't perfect but
listening to these stories gives me no excuse on why I
CAN'T do it. Thanks for the link I really enjoyed it. I
recieved my offical BFL package in the mail today it's
nice, basically gives you the info you need. A good
site for excersice is <a href=http://muscleandfitness.com
target=new>http://muscleandfitness.com</a> They
have lost of excercises in there with pics to show you
how to perform them
Hey Angie,<br><br>I've been in the Navy for only
a year. I've known about this program for about a
year now. I always stop around the 2nd week each time
I start it because I feel I'm in good enough shape.
But my girlfriend has really motivated me. She plays
college basketball and works out alot. she's always
telling me that my body is fine, but I know I'm not happy
with it, I understand she's trying to make me feel
better and I love her for it, but I'm dedicating this
challenge for her. We are going underway to europe for a
couple months, so this will be a total suprise. Continue
doing what you're diong, 20% is very attainable, are
you following the program to a "t"? Is it hard for
you? How do you like it so far? Hope to hear from you
soon.<br><br>JJ
Bodychangers is a great site--I have listened to
many of the interviews for points and it's very
motivational to hear how others have directed their energies
to overcome obstacles. <br><br>You might have a look
at exrx.net--it is a comprehensive site that among
other things organizes exercises according to muscle
group and type of resistance used--dumbell, barbell,
Smith, cable, etc. There's much more--it's worth a
bookmark.<br><br>Charlie
Hi, Good idea. My husband was in the Navy for 4
years. We are doing this challenge together. His goal is
to put on lean muscle and return to his 31 inch
waist. He currently has a 34 inch waist. My goal is to
lose bodyfat and increase muscle. I started my
challenge 2 weeks ago at 28.7% and my goal is 20%. Best
wishes to everyone taking the challenge and considering
it! Angie
I think it's great that everyone here is making
an effort by getting into shape. This is a support
group, we have many many members in this club, we need
to become more active. A question here and a
question there is cool, but we need to start posting our
progress more often, we need to understand each other's
goals and understand one another to make this a
successful club. I'm a 19 year old male in the U.S. Navy,
I'm planning out my challenge which starts feb. 18,
its going to be hard, I'm making a suppliment wish
list, and looking through other sources to see what
excercises are the best. I'm also frequently checking out
bodychangers.com it's a great site that shows people's results
about 90% use BFL. I don't know if people will take
offense
Hello everyone. I am back on my diet finally
after a very long absence.. Ever since the Sept 11
tragedy, I have been down with myself and heavily
depressed and I put on alot of weight. Now that its the new
year and all, I decided to make that commitment once
again to thrive myself to get in better shape and stay
healthy for the long run. Its gonna be another hard 12
weeks, but this time im alot more focused, smarter and
alot more motivated than first time. So gear up
everyone, cause here I come!! I'm on my way to the Body For
Life!<br><br>Thank you and god bless all,<br>Anthony T.
I'm interested in hearing from anyone from the Eastern Shore of Virginia that
might be in the BFL program. I've almost completed my third week and I feel
better than I have in years.
I've followed the idea of a fist of protein and a
fost or carbs at each of the three (real food) meals.
Be sure to add a few vegetable servings int here
too. The other 3 meals are Low Carb
Myoplex.<br><br>Worked for me. I lost 75 lbs. in 8 months.
A lot of hot baths and even try to do a little
walk/jog. Not to really burn but just to get the heart rate
up to flush out lactic acid that's making you
sore.<br>Be sure to drink atleast a gallon of water a day.
Soreness is gone in the acute way but a dull
soreness is there especially in the legs when I do cardio.
Had to add another interval to the cardio day and
that really got my heart and legs geared up. It was
much harder than expected. I also am stretching a good
amount to alleviate the soreness.
I have just finished week three of my first BFL.
I have lost 6.0 lbs, 1.5" in my waist and I feel a
ton better. I have added some cardio as I think I
burn fat better that way. How has weight/fat loss
progressed for others over the 12 weeks as my "scale weight"
is falling at 1 lb. / week at this point.
Double Whooper w/ cheese and bacon. 3 scoop
sundae with nuts for protein. A Big Mac, no fries. A Big
bag of Dorittos. Fried chicken sandwich. 6 sausage
links and a bottled water. i think im going to start
taking fat burners
Hi - I found this in the Aug/Sept 2001 issue of
Muscle & Fitness Hers -<br><br>"As well as being
relaxing (due to its content of l-theanine) and full of
beneficial antioxidants, a cup of green tea before bed also
keeps your metabolism humming. For example, an extract
of green tea standardized to 90mg of the active
ingredient epigallo-catechin gallate (EGCG) was found to
stimulate metabolism and increase energy expenditure by
about 4%. The effect was probably due to EGCG’s ability
to block the enzyme catechol-O-methyl transferase
and keep levels of the thermogenic hormone
norepinephrine high. As a whole, research on green tea suggest
it has a fat-loss effect without the “buzz” of EC
(ephedrine-caffeine), and is likely to reduce your chance of getting
many different types of cancer."<br><br>I personally
take a green tea extract pill daily and usually have a
cup of green tea each night before bed, mainly for
the antioxidant effect. Can't really attest to the
metabolism increase. Hope this helps.<br><br>Cheryl G. :)
Thanks Mark,<br> I have decided not to use any metab. boosters at this point
in the program. If I find I need a boost later in the program I may. Thanks so
much for your info! Angie
