Hello everyone, I have been away and unable to manage this board for
some time and still unable to do so at this time. As many of you may
have seen, as a result, the board became inundated with spam of all
sorts. I know that there are a few devoted members here and I am now
calling on you to help if possible. I would like to hear from the
other moderators also. If anyone here (preferably with a history) is
interested, please let me know. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Neil and everyone (or should I say anyone left),
Like everyone else, I'm fed up with Yahoo and the ads. It has
completely ruined several of the BFL boards I frequent.
I may have an alternative. While looking for other support sites, I
came across MSN. They have communities with guess what... no silly
pop up ads!
Layout is pretty similar to Yahoo, you can post pictures, links, all
the same stuff and a few add'l features. Also, you don't have to
change your email to MSN, just set up a 'passport' on MSN.
Here's the URL for a pretty good MSN site to give you an example:
http://communities.msn.com/BodyforLifeWinners/messageboard.msnw
Several Yahoo BFL Groups have just moved en masse over to MSN. I
would go set one up, BFL Down Under on MSN but to confess, I'm a yank
and mostly just used to lurk here.
I hope to see you over there! ANNE

I came accross this website from a friend. Youch! I havent had any
problems with my waxing but if you are interested in waxing for the
bfl photos or have had a bad result from waxing you might want to
look at this persons website. Be warned it might put you off waxing!

The advertising on yahoo is really pissing me off so I dont check in
very often. The other thing that I have noticed about yahoo is that
they start opening new explorer windows with even more ad's every
time I log on. Its not really the amount of advertising that bothers
me just its total irrelivance to Australia, 99% of the products are
not available here anyway so whats the point?
Cheers Neil,
Yeah and there isn't much chance that we will fall off!

Hi Maggi,
I think the club has changed to a group, simply in the name of the
almighty $$$$$! I guess the advertising has to be paid for, even if
most of us don't read any of it. Which is ironic when you think about
it.... if no one is left in the group because of the advertising,
then no one will be around to READ IT!
I appeciate your mention of my question, thanks, but that's ok. I
went into the official BFL chat room to try to get some answers, but
no one really wanted to go into depth the answers I needed. They were
more interested in "chatting" (funny that!) ;)
Anyway, I will keep trying... and to everyone, hang in there!
Gayle.

Hey all:
I too think the change from club to group sux.... and I do hate, with
a passion, the advertising. I do all I can to avoid it and now it's
literally in my face all the time. I actually think it's hard to
read the posts with such a large blob of colour.
I don't know about the supplement question - sorry I can't help. I
can only add that I am so irregular in taking anything that actually
remembering to take something half and hour b4 a meal is next to
impossible for me!
For those of you who remember me from last year (!!!) I am now a PT
at Fernwood, have taken up road cycling and still haven't managed to
get into a challenge. Somehow each time I start spirits move me in
another direction!!! It will come, but at least I am maintaining and
feel absolutely wonderful. Maybe that has something to do with being
back in Oz after a 10 year absence.
Don't give up Neil, you always have such interesting and useful stuff
to say - certainly has helped me learn and understand.
Since I don't understand, why the change to group - what is the
intended end result???? That we all leave, appears to be the
scenario right now :(
Anyway, just remember if the world didn't suck we'd all fall off!!!!

Hi,
I am hoping there are still people in this group. (I do wish Yahoo
hadn't changed our club to a group!)
I have 4 different supplements I have bought at different times,
which I will list for you. They are H.M.B ; CLA ; Phen Free ; Beta-
Lean. The Phen Free & Beta-Lean are taken 30 mins before meals, while
the other 2 say to take with meals. Now, my question is, is it safe
to take all these each day, or should I take just two types at a time
& swith after they are finished. This morning I took both the Phen
Free & Beta-Lean (on an empty stomach) and my throat seems to burn
every time they repeat on me. Not nice! I don't want to waste any as
they are not cheap! I know not to expect supplements to do the work
for me, in the past I was very open to this idea, but, like having
the gym equipment & not using it, is NOT going to get the weight off!
You have to actually use it! I want to use the supplements to HELP me
achieve my best! Please advise!
Thanks,
Gayle.
Yup, Only two weeks on the BFL challenge for me (Even though I am
planning to do it all again for the next three months -- all again!!)
and the commercial posts (pests) in this newsgroup have killed it for
me as well...
Good luck to all those on the BFL challenge.

I wanted to take a second out of your day and recommend an amazing
line of cosmetics that are SEMI PERMANENT.They stay on me for 24-36
hours, sometimes longer. I started using them a year and a half ago
and have not used anything else since than. I became friends with my
distributor and feel like sharing this great product with all women.
I get my products from www.senegence.com/makeupschool101. It is true
they do not smear or smudge and I am in and out of meetings all day
and do not have to re-apply my makeup sometimes until 18 hours later.
My distributor gives me a free lipliner for every order which is
actually very nice. They also ship it to me immediatley so I don`t
have to wait. I hope this info helps you in your search for great
cosmetics. The web site once again is

Go for it! I am 53 this year and have been into Body For Life for
about three years, current weight 110kg fat about 28% I made the top
10 in my age group for BFL in 2000. I have been
working out on and off for about 17 years, It gives me some pain in
the shoulders due to arthritis from time to time but physical
excersise (manual work) and weight training is the spice of life. It
keeps your body young and feeling alive.
Remember to start into the weights slowly otherwise it can do you
some harm especially the lower back work.
Where are you from?

Hi Magida,
Niel is right,
Try and plan the big three and not just two:
1) Workouts/exercise/wieghts/cardio
2) Supplements/Vitmains
3) Nutrition/Food
The are all equally important (Inc 3). In fact, the whole reason my
wife & I started BFL was because when we worked-out harder, and
harder and focussed hard, and had all the drive & desire in the
world - we be feeling DEAD after about 1.5 weeks. This was because we
didn't have the FUEL. We had the spark, but not the fuel. Your body
really does need the fuel.
In the end we really WANTED to learn about good, healthy, nutritional
food and that's exactly what BFL has given us. I also never had the
time, I never had the desire even though I had huge reasons to
understand the food side - but I still resisted - for 2.5 YEARS!.
Finally we now know that there REALLY IS a BETTER kind of 'normal'.
And you can feel GREAT all the time, not FLAT after workouts &
excercise.
Best of luck.

Magida,
You will have to make some effort on the food side of the BFL program
as we all do to get the best results. Protein shakes are a
convenience food and they take the time and effort out of getting the
balance right in at least two to three meals a day. If you dont have
time to prepare meals you will need to make yourself tolerate them.
For the other meals just follow the BFL portion system outlined on
page 83 of the Bill Phillips Book it works for everyone else. Its no
harder to plan out your eating than planning your workouts, you say
NO TIME!! well I say make time. You manage to make time for your
workouts so do the same thing for the nutrition part of the program
its just as important, we all make excuses for not being able to do
things, but at the end of the day life is about of priorities and
choices so what is really improtant to you? what are your priorities?
Read the Body For Life book again you will find that its about more
than just excersise, eating right and improoving your body. its about
taking control of your life on all planes, physical and mental. Its
about setting goals and achieving your personal best for you!
Cheers Neil

Hi Magida,
Don't be discouraged. I asked a similar question not long ago. What I
can recommend is to check out the health secction of the supermarket.
There are some really good protein powders there that are a fraction
of the cost of Myoplex. And there are plenty to choose from so you
should find one you like.
There is also Sustagen Sport that is very good, but a bit high in
sugar. It does taste nice though.
Best of luck,
Drew
Thanks for the info Neil, but I am still not much better off. I
don't have the time to prepare 3 meals a day, let alone 6! Below is
an example of what I would eat in 1 day:
Breakfast: 2 slices of rye bread with vegamite.
Snack: Coffee with skinny milk and 1 equal, yoghurt OR salada with
slice of ham OR fruit.
Lunch: Salad sandwich with ham/chicken/turkey.
Snack: 97% fat free fruit bar OR yoghurt OR fruit.
Dinner: Steak/chicken/pasta with vegetables.
Snack: some kind of dessert (low fat).
This seems to work well for me, but on my normal excersice plan I am
not seeing much of a change.....if I stay on this kind of eating plan
during BFL will I get results?
I am not very good at counting calories/fat/ratio's etc...I just want
to know what to eat and when! Is that being lazy/selfish??! I just
don't have the time to stress about what I eat!
Exersice is not a problem for me - it's easy because u have aplan and
u just follow it....food seems to be a bit of a different issue for
me! Please help!!! :)
Thanks again for your support,

Magida,
Protein shakes are really just a convenience food that take a lot of
the work out of meal preparation, its fairly hard to come up with 5
or 6 meals a day using real food. But you don't have to use protein
shakes if you are prepared to do a little study and then make solid
food meals and snacks based on quality food sources like cottage
cheese, yoghurt, eggs and chicken just to name a few. There was a BFL
cook book on the internet last year that had quite a few ideas for
meals and snacks but I am not sure where to access it now. Maybe if
Clint is around he might know where to find it. It is important to
get the protein:carbs:fat ratio right 40% 40% 20% plus or minus a
couple of percent on individual meals as long as the average comes
out right. You can also modify protein shakes to suit your taste, ie,
add fruit or yoghurt in the blender. I like to use low fat milk with
something like Max's Whey Protein (Vanila) and a bananna. I have
also usea Ausie Bodies WPI ant Myoplex simply protein but I always
buy Vanila so that it can be modified. Chocolate is always going to
be chocolate flavoured no matter what you add to it.

Drew,
I also found Myoplex to be out of my price range, if you go to GNC or
a similar shop you will find that there are plenty of brands
available in protein suplements that are much more affordable. If you
check out magazines like Muscle & Fitness you will find some good
mail order companies that have great prices advertising in them. I
have used Honeysuckle discount sports nutrition mail order service
and am very sattisfied with the service.
