My husband has pain along with numbness and tingling in his thumb,
index and ring fingers. He says that he has spasms and a feeling of
stiffness in his hands also. Sometimes the hands become swollen and
red at other times they are not. When they are not swollen the flesh
feels squishy to me rather than firm. He is not a smoker and never has
been, but he was a car mechanic and also a welder. He is now a
fabricator. I was curious if fumes could also be a cause or catalyst
to beurgers disease rather than smoking? Also are the symptoms above
close to what beurgers disease is like? Whatever my husband has is not
easily given a name in the medical arena. We have been to numerous
types of medical people including rheumatologists and neurologists.
the only thing not looked at is the blood vessels and I was looking for
something which may be similar to his symptoms. I was considering this
disease, which fits closely except for the smoking factor. He also had
a sudden loss of eyesight (overnight) and I saw on one website that
there was a cerebral condition also under the beurger's disease. Does
anyone else have this condition who is not a smoker and fits the
welder/car mechanic synopsis?
